Afterlife Posted November 20, 2012 It's very frustrating, but everytime I make a level and I save it afterwards, it does not appear how it was when I open it next time. I know it has saved and watch it save but I keep getting this problem. Any help? 0 Share this post Link to post

If so and you're on a modern version of Windows, it probably is getting written to a virtual folder like GreyGhost suggests. GreyGhost Posted November 22, 2012 I'm surprised you'd be having problems with a desktop folder, unless it links to a folder you don't have full access rights to - which probably includes Steam client folders. Make sure your virus checker isn't forcing DoomBuilder to run in sandbox mode, since it might also be discarding any changes that are made when exiting the program. 0 Share this post Link to post
Afterlife Posted November 22, 2012 You guys have lost me a bit. It shows up as losing some work on my WAD at random times, not the last work I have done on it. For example, I was working on a maze the last time I saved it but another three sectors that I was working on months ago have not saved. It's not necessarily the last parts I worked on. (sorry if I come across as noobish) Swcherpunk: When I press "Ctrl + S" it comes up down below saying it has saved. When I click "save map as" it in the file path just, "DOOM" GreyGhost: I'm sure sandbox mode isn't present in my virus scanner and did check. I do have full access rights to everything but the fact that it's a windows 7 pc I am working on I sometimes get problems with admin rights. Don't know why. ALso, it is only this WAD I am having problems with. It is a megaWAD. Am I doing something wrong when I make new maps for megaWADS? 0 Share this post Link to post
schwerpunk Posted November 22, 2012 Hm, I haven't done much work involving multiple maps on the same WADs, so maybe it's something obvious that I just don't know about. If I had your problem I would: 1) re-save my file as a whole new WAD and see if that doesn't fix it, and 2) uninstall/reinstall Doombuilder, just in case there's something wrong there. 0 Share this post Link to post

Every time you start an editing session with Doombuilder2, it generates a log file in C:\Users\computer\AppData\Local\Doom Builder. Have a look at that, it may give a clue of what your computer is doing. 0 Share this post Link to post

Judging by the fact that only 1 plugin (BuilderModes.dll) was loaded and that some configs are still for Skulltag, I assume that you are using an old version of Doombuilder2. I would suggest that you uninstall the version you are using right now and to delete both files, Builder.log and Builder.cfg. Then download the latest version of Doombuilder2 from http://svn.drdteam.org/doombuilder2/ or the latest version of GZDoombuilder from http://svn.drdteam.org/doombuilder2-gzdb/ . For either program there is no installation process other to un7zip into a folder. A new Builder.cfg or GZBuilder.cfg is created when either program is first used. As before Builder.log or GZBuilder.log files are generated every time the program is started up. There is no more messing around with which version of SlimDX to use. But you should have .NET Framework 3.5 or higher installed. If you have a previous version to 3.5, then use the update file dotnetfx35setup.exe in the Setup folder. 0 Share this post Link to post
