I wanted to do stuff like have the cooling fans attached to movable "arms" that you could maneuver around, and have all the stuff scattered about random locations on the desk for that ultra-messy feel. Then again, half my current PC is sitting on the desk next to the case anyway =P

this four year old machine of mine is a desktop, it's a fucking huge one as well. I like it, the monitor would be too low on this desk otherwise.

deadnail, I don't think a midtower or desktop case exists that conforms to your wish list. I think you might just have to accept the probablility you will need a tower. You won't be satisfied with a case that doesn't have everything you want, so I think you should go for the tower. You'll be happier in the long run.

Aha, but with the 3.5 USB adapter just about any desktop case will do now, I just need one with 3 5's on front and preferably not gay looking! =)

Well naturally I'd be ordering the parts and assembling it myself. Considering I have like $1500 free on my Visa I'd say $665 cash is enough headway to get started. ^.^
