Capellan Posted July 25, 2013 Jayextee said:So far, yes. Again I apologise for the oversight on my part re: compatibility setting. Apology not necessary. I'm just clarifying so I know what needs to be done. I'm also grateful you're looking at the levels :) 0 Share this post Link to post
Jayextee Posted July 25, 2013 Not a problem. I've resolved to beat them all in UV from a pistol start. MAP31 is beating my ass, repeatedly. Got to the Archviles, and I'm kinda not doing so well at that point. I will beat them all though. ;) 0 Share this post Link to post
Capellan Posted July 25, 2013 The non-trad compilation is coming, by the by, though it will likely take longer as a lot more of the maps need difficulty settings. 0 Share this post Link to post
Walter confetti Posted July 26, 2013 played trought all the traditional mapset, it's a ok megawad with a lots of unconventional design in it... when i get back home i'll post the bugs i found (not so many but i found some un-uppenged textures here and there and a missing line in map27) 0 Share this post Link to post
joe-ilya Posted July 26, 2013 Added difficulties. http://www.mediafire.com/?oqwlryfvsxdbr7l 0 Share this post Link to post
Jayextee Posted July 26, 2013 I am still having difficulties with MAP31. It all looks totally possible, just fiendishly put together. I think maybe this is the best map so far. As an aside, I'm playing this with Jimmy's Plutonia Midi project WAD and it's such an amazing fit. 0 Share this post Link to post
Capellan Posted July 27, 2013 7 maps still to do in the Non-Trad wad, and then it will be ready for testing. Draft text file. Let me know if you have any suggestions for changes. =========================================================================== Primary purpose : Single Player =========================================================================== Title : 100 Lines Filename : 100lineT.wad, 100lineN.wad Author : Various, see below Email Address : crowroadaw@yahoo.com.au (that'll get you Capellan/Adam Windsor - use Doomworld PMs to contact individual map authors) Description : The challenge was to put together the best possible level that meets all 5 of the following criteria: 1. is Boom-compatible; and 2. uses only vanilla textures; and 3. is fun to play; and 4. looks OK; and 5. is constructed with 100 linedefs or less. To put this last criteria in context, e1m1 has 486 linedefs. Over 70 maps were submitted, and 64 were OK'd for release to idgames. These have been split into two wads: 100lineT: is levels that are more or less 'traditional' in their map design. 100lineN: is levels that use an unusual gimmick, or take a slaughtermap approach. All maps were designed with pistol start in mind. The order of maps in the wads was determined by the visual style of the levels; difficulty curve was not a factor. Some later maps will be easier than earlier ones. =========================================================================== * What is included * New levels : 64 Sounds : No Music : Yes - for a few levels Graphics : No Dehacked/BEX Patch : No Demos : No Other : No Other files required : None * Play Information * Game : Doom2.wad Map # : All Single Player : Designed for Cooperative 2-4 Player : Player starts included; not tested; some levels may not work well for co-op Deathmatch 2-4 Player : Player starts included; not tested; many levels will not work well for deathmatch Other game styles : None Difficulty Settings : Yes * Construction * Base : New from scratch Build Time : Varies Editor(s) used : Varies Known Bugs : None known May Not Run With : Any vanilla doom port, incorrect compat settings Tested With : prboom-plus-2.5.1.3 (compat 9) * Map Information * The Doomworld user names of the individual map authors are as follows: 100lineT.wad 01 Capellan 02 traversd 03 Kaiser 04 Jayextee 05 Katamori 06 Chris Hansen 07 Capellan 08 joepallai 09 theJF 10 Jayextee 11 Scifista42 12 Obsidian 13 General Rainbow Bacon 14 joe-ilya 15 Capellan 16 Fiend 17 Jayextee 18 Scypek2 19 Walter Confalonieri 20 joe-ilya 21 Traversd 22 Scet 23 dutch devil 24 Scet 25 Jayextee 26 Membrain 27 Skillsaw 28 Mikle 29 Capellan 30 Obsidian 31 Scifista42 32 ChaingunnerX 100lineN.wad 01 Scypek2 02 Ribbiks 03 durian 04 General Rainbow Bacon 05 Demonologist 06 ArmouredBlood 07 Scypek2 08 BloodyAcid 09 dobugabumaru 10 Magnusblitz 11 TimeOfDeath 12 Demonologist 13 Archi 14 theJF 15 Obsidian 16 Jayextee 17 TimeofDeath 18 JCD 19 Demonologist 20 Obsidian 21 Capellan 22 dobugabumaru 23 General Rainbow Bacon 24 Jayextee 25 Plut 26 Walter Confalonieri 27 Scet 28 ArmouredBlood 29 BloodyAcid 30 Da Spadger 31 TimeofDeath 32 Jayextee * Copyright / Permissions * Authors may use the contents of this file as a base for modification or reuse ONLY with the permission of the original author (contact them on doomworld). TimeOfDeath Posted July 28, 2013 In 100lineT, the blue key in map18 is stuck in mid-air and can't be picked up. Btw, I played through the wad while keeping my weapons and thought it was fun. :) For the txt file, did you want to give credit to Sandy Petersen for the doom2 map01 remake in 100lineN? 0 Share this post Link to post
Magnusblitz Posted July 28, 2013 http://speedy.sh/PddZv/magnus-100lines.wad Quick update for my map (Non-trad map10) to add co-op/DM starts and difficulty settings (probably too easy on skills 1-3, but, eh). Also made a change so the player can't get stuck in the rising columns anymore. 0 Share this post Link to post

Fixed the blue key. Added a note that your map had inspiration from ID. 0 Share this post Link to post
Mikle Posted July 28, 2013 In 100lineT map02 works correctly in prboom-plus, but in the old prboom crashes, in vanilla and DOOM95 strong artifacts, in GZDoom visible distortion Z-fighting. 0 Share this post Link to post
Jayextee Posted July 28, 2013 Mikle said:In 100lineT map02 ... in vanilla and DOOM95 strong artifacts I had made this mistake. It has BOOM specials, so PRBoom+ is probably the way to go here, just make sure the compatibility is set to BOOM and not Vanilla. 0 Share this post Link to post
Obsidian Posted July 28, 2013 I'll tell you what I can do: I'll whip up some DeHackEd patches for the 2 wads when I get the chance. If you could list the map names I'll be able to get started. Sorry again for not being able to compile the whole thing, but I'm just too preoccupied nowdays. I couldn't keep track of the maps either: there's like 20 "100lines.wad" files in my Downloads folder. :P 0 Share this post Link to post
Jayextee Posted July 28, 2013 Speaking of which, have we got a list of the level names? 0 Share this post Link to post
Capellan Posted July 28, 2013 I'll try to work up the enthusiasm to troll through the thread for level names. That's the only record for a lot of them. 0 Share this post Link to post
joe-ilya Posted July 28, 2013 Capellan said:That's the dbs file, not the wad. Why do I keep doin' this? http://www.mediafire.com/?tqthfwwjs8phm3q The damn wad. EDIT: just wanted to submit a crappy map I made in 75 lines. http://www.mediafire.com/download/a3m7tny2qob5x2d/extrememapthingshitfuckfest.wad EDIT2:Jayextee said:Speaking of which, have we got a list of the level names? Well , I have names for my maps. (Logo and minimum fear(based on the opening of e4m9)) 0 Share this post Link to post
Jayextee Posted July 28, 2013 > gets to level 25 > "Oh hey, this guy went for a similar look to one of mine" > It's one of mine. I'm still slogging through 100lineT. I couldn't beat MAP31 in the end, I just went to MAP16 and have been playing through since then. There's a slaughterish one in green marble (MAP23) that's seven tons of fun, love it. Is it so bizarre that I think this is generally a pretty good level set? EDIT Done, dusted. Pistol starts on all non-secret levels apart from MAP18, which has a floating blue key (as noted above). Didn't like how cramped the beginning of MAP30 is, but there's a trick to it and it's certainly beatable. Not bad, will play again (either final release or when the Megawad club does). 0 Share this post Link to post
Capellan Posted July 28, 2013 I've fixed the floating blue key in map18. Just that and the extra single player start in map08 as issues so far, it seems. Well, except for port issues. Seems like the text file should basically say "Use PRBoom+ or GLBoom+, compat 9, to play"? 0 Share this post Link to post
Ribbiks Posted July 28, 2013 more concise term for that would just be 'boom-compatible' 0 Share this post Link to post
Capellan Posted July 28, 2013 Ribbiks said:more concise term for that would just be 'boom-compatible' ... except it has glitches in prboom-without-the-plus, so really it's not. (Darn that traversd and his fancy schmancy prboom+ engine trickery! :) ) 0 Share this post Link to post
Capellan Posted July 31, 2013 Non-trad compilation now available for testing. Same comments apply as for the trad wad (which has been updated to fix the two issues reported). 0 Share this post Link to post
Jayextee Posted July 31, 2013 It okay if I test on a lower setting than UV for this one (thinking on HNTR)? I'm pretty much a slaughtermap virgin, and I gather a few of those feature... 0 Share this post Link to post
Capellan Posted July 31, 2013 You can test it however you like :) HNTR may still be very nasty for some maps (like Time of Death's), but it will be very easy for others. 0 Share this post Link to post
Magnusblitz Posted July 31, 2013 Not sure how, but one of the arachnatrons on MAP07 Non-Trad got stuck and never teleported, making the map unwinnable without noclip. 0 Share this post Link to post
Capellan Posted July 31, 2013 Thanks. Will take a look at that tonight after work. 0 Share this post Link to post
