Shadowman Posted August 7, 2013 Hello! I would like to offer your attention to the "Inquisitor 2", a wad created within a 7th "freakmap" competition, which was held on July, 03 - 17, 2013. It's a single map about doomguy who got into an unfamiliar dimension and had to disentangle local troubles to get the opportunity to return home. This wad is a prequel to the previously released "The Inquisitor", narrating the events leading up stories that take place in "The Inquisitor". Guest Posted August 7, 2013 Some of those screens look beautiful. I'd play this. 0 Share this post Link to post
Fenriswolf Posted August 7, 2013 I love the screens, great work! In the "Curse of Darkness"-Thread I wrote that "Curse of Darkness", although being related to Heretic, looks more like a Hexen Game to me. Some people said that was because "Curse of Darkness" would feature nonmagical weapons mainly. Now your map, even though it seems to use many Hexen graphics and nonmagical weapons, looks more like a Heretic map to me than a Hexen map... Weird :D I'm still trying to figure out for myself why that's the case .. 0 Share this post Link to post
esselfortium Posted August 7, 2013 Cool stuff, though I have to question the integrity of claiming to have created a "total conversion" when the resources appear to be all or mostly taken from Doom and Doom-engine games, other ripped commercial content, and freebie Realm667-downloaded resources. 0 Share this post Link to post
Godsdoomer Posted August 7, 2013 I've never seen the Weredragon with wings or the Goat demon with a shield. Ive never even seen that shield actually. Looks really cool dude. I like your stuff anyways. 0 Share this post Link to post
SavageCorona Posted August 7, 2013 I like the almost Quake style architecture with a medieval/Strife theme. I want this now. Also is this a reference to this: http://www.gog.com/game/inquisitor 0 Share this post Link to post
Shadowman Posted August 7, 2013 A temporal link: http://rghost.ru/47966628 IWAD - Doom2.wad (Not Heretic or Hexen iwads). The archive contains 2 versions of the wad: English (inqstr2e.wad) and Russian (inqstr2r.wad). You can select one of them to play. You can also set the speed of text messages in game by hot key "M" and set other hot keys for items' use. The wad was tested in gzdoom 1-6-00. Have a nice game! 0 Share this post Link to post

Total conversion means in this case that the gameplay in wad is very different from the usual in Doom. Wrote so beforehand remove comments like this comment on Cheogsh 2: ) "im giving it 2 for the fact that i didnt kill a single thing within the first minute of gameplay. or the second. or the third. i thought i was playing Doom here but i guess i was wrong!" 0 Share this post Link to post
Fenriswolf Posted August 7, 2013 I just played a bit of it and think it's great... Kinda feels like 3D Diablo, don't know if that was your intention? Maybe that's where "Kane" came from? There might have been a bug (Im not sure) but I think I was able to buy the sword two times accidentaly, at least I lost 40 gold. I also had some graphical problems with GzDoom, I don't use this often, so I don't know why it looked a bit strange for me: How can I fix this? 0 Share this post Link to post
Da Werecat Posted August 7, 2013 Have you tried looking into dynamic light options? 0 Share this post Link to post

You give the sword when you bring 20 gold to the smith. If not, you can try to steal some money from houses (it's very difficult!!!), solve the spider quest in tavern (give another 20 gold) or restart the game ) Fenriswolf said:I also had some graphical problems with GzDoom, I don't use this often, so I don't know why it looked a bit strange for me: Try to change something in Dynamic Light Options in gzdoom (level of the light?) 0 Share this post Link to post
Fenriswolf Posted August 8, 2013 Well, I think the sword costs 20 gold. When I talked to the guy who wanted me to bring him the sword he gave me 20 gold, yet as far as I remember my inventory said 40 gold afterwards. I went to the smith and talked to him and got the sowrd. I talked to him again and the same dialogue came and when I looked in my inventory I think I did not have any gold left... Thats why I thought I bought it two times. By the way, where does the dungeon music come from? Ok, I'll try this later! 0 Share this post Link to post

About the sword: I've checked this situation - and did not find bug you told me about. First, I've completed tavern owner's quest, and received 20 gold pieces, then I've viseted the acolyte, took the sword quest and 20 gold pieces as well, then visited the smith, gave him money and as a result - obtained the sword. Secondary - blacksmith already gives his quest, and no previous texts' repeats were found. The situation did not changed even if I'd talk with smith first, and visited the acolyte then. Could you please describe me the steps that you did in the very beginning of the game? 0 Share this post Link to post
Da Werecat Posted August 8, 2013 Playing it. I must admit, I'm very tired of abusing save system in order to progress. 0 Share this post Link to post
Cire Posted August 8, 2013 Total conversions are always cool. I played a bit of Inquisitor 1 back when it was released and thought it had a nice atmosphere. I'll try this one out later when I get the time, but the screenshots looks cool. 0 Share this post Link to post
Fenriswolf Posted August 8, 2013 Ah okay, that was probably the reason why I thought I was playing Diablo all the time ;) Okay I just tested it again and I did not encouet that bug, so it's probably not there and I just misunderstood something ;) There was a small "bug" though, I was able tohear the chickens when I was in the dungeon, this just sounded very weird it did heart the atmosphere (which was really great!) a bit. Still not through, though. The light worked now for me. Looks great, yet a bit too dark sometimes, there were rooms I hardly could see anything. 0 Share this post Link to post
Da Werecat Posted August 8, 2013 Try setting sector light mode to "standart" in preferences. 0 Share this post Link to post
