Demensions of Demise

Recommended Posts

I've been feeling a little PSX DooM-crazy lately and decided to start a little project.

I want the maps to stay a bit true to the original PSX DooM so I'm not really wanting to add anything custom like monsters or textures, the only thing that will be custom-made is the music, which I am composing.

I'm aiming for about eleven maps: five tech-theme and five hell-theme with the addition of one secret map, making it eleven.

Here are some screenshots of the two maps that are complete:

Wow... I really liked what I saw in the demo. Another thing to look forward to! They did feel very PSX-like, not just because of the sounds, but the levels all had that dark lighting and startling design. Keep up the good work!

Thanks, that's what I am trying to achieve!
I'm glad you liked it.

I'm not entirely sure when this will be complete, it will probably be quite a while before it's fully finished and ready for a release.

Impressive demonstration. Some comments:

The ambient music tracks are excellent, and the same goes for the visuals. The oppressive "PSX" atmosphere is definitely present.
Also, the level-end fade-out fits perfectly. The pistol / chaingun (read: non-shotgun) beginning is my "cup of tea" as well, and it wouldn't hurt if it was longer, especially the pistol part of it.

If it was up to me, I'd get rid of the monster blocking lines in Map01, since the demons aren't a threat when trapped thus. The monster placement might be a bit too symmetrical in places, and I'd be more stingy when it comes to ammunition, medical supplies, and armour.

Summary:
Great job! I'm looking forward to the full release, whenever it comes.

Thank you! I'm wanting to push the PSX atmosphere pretty hard in this project.

Thanks, I'm also thinking about putting in a level-fade-in screen affect as well.
I actually went out on a hunch by placing a chaingun before the shotgun, I am glad though that someone likes it.

Thanks for your suggestions, I'll definitely take them into consideration!
