William Blazkowicz Posted December 29, 2013 Yea, I know this is kinda dumb. But I just always thought that this song by Slayer sounded like "Facing the Spider" from Doom/The Ultimate Doom: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Nn3Uibn3TM Also, this Metallica song sounds like "The Imp Song" in the begining: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pnS_7YsYzM 0 Share this post Link to post
Diamhea Posted January 4, 2014 Should anyone be surprised? I thought it was common knowledge that Bobby based many of the tracks around borrowed riffs and passages. 0 Share this post Link to post
Technician Posted January 4, 2014 Bobby based a lot of the songs around music the guys at id were listening to at the time. Less so in Doom 2. 0 Share this post Link to post
Ed Posted January 5, 2014 One of the early versions of Facing the Spider that Romero posted on his blog is EXACTLY the same as Sargent D and the S.O.D. 0 Share this post Link to post

IMX Posted January 7, 2014 Yeah, D_E3M8 is basically Sargent D and no other song. Makes me wonder who brought a Stormtroopers of Death CD to the id software offices in the first place. Adrian C., maybe? 0 Share this post Link to post

Shin Godzilla Posted January 7, 2014 I know for a fact that, maybe a year or two ago, somebody posted the song that E1M3 is really based on. It was an industrial rock song, but I can't remember the title or band name, and I can't find the thread in which it was posted. 0 Share this post Link to post

printz Posted January 8, 2014 What about chronologically reverse inspiration? Morbid Angel: Disturbance in the Great Slumber sounds a lot like D_E1M5, and the guys like Doom. 0 Share this post Link to post

Not surprised in the slightest. His guitarist is a well known Doom fan and has released a custom Doom WAD before...not good at all, to tell you the truth. He should stick to be great at the guitar and nothing else. 0 Share this post Link to post
