invictius Posted February 4, 2014 Well, Evilution starts on Io but the sky soon changes to a space-y night-time one (other side of the moon?) - as for Plutonia, oh... the wiki says Io as well. But then it goes on to call the first set of levels "initial Earth levels". Hrmm... 0 Share this post Link to post
Devalaous Posted February 4, 2014 Evilution is on a moon of Jupiter. EDIT: Wut. You answered one of your own questions :/ 0 Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted February 4, 2014 The Casalis' original plan for Plutonia's story involved random time travel to various place on Earth, so it's why you have names like Congo or Aztec. The story was changed in the Final Doom manual, but not the level design or map names. Short answer is "who cares? The idguys didn't". 0 Share this post Link to post

Someone should write a fanfic to go along with the setting of Plutonia then. 0 Share this post Link to post

Or maybe that's where they got the idea from. 0 Share this post Link to post
Deleted_Account Posted February 4, 2014 TNT takes place on Io, Plutonia takes place on Earth somewhere in the jungle. There were demons in the jungle... 0 Share this post Link to post

Tristan Posted February 4, 2014 Yet the hell setting is actually what I'd expect Io to be like. It was brought to my attention by a TNT 2 playtester that it's not actually stated which moon TNT takes place on. From a realistic point of view, TNT takes place on Callisto. 0 Share this post Link to post
Megamur Posted February 4, 2014 The text from the original Doom manuals are here. No specific mention is made of which moon of Jupiter that Evilution takes place on. (Originally, TNT actually took place on Earth, but Id Software changed the story.) Plutonia's instruction manual text isn't specific at all about where it takes place, beyond it being some sort of UAC complex. The text does make note of DoomGuy being "on leave at the beach, only a few minutes from the complex," and that he drove his pickup truck to get to the complex. That makes it sound like it's on Earth. Further mention of planes being sent in to confront the demonic invasion also backs up the theory that it's probably Earth. 0 Share this post Link to post
Sergeant_Mark_IV Posted February 5, 2014 I am sure the last levels of Plutonia takes place on Earth. The player seems like to have escaped the medieval times and is rising from a series of underground compounds, as we can see, he passes thru a military bunker, a big sewer system, and on the final level before the boss fight (Odissey of Noises), he comes to a big and very dense city, completely destroyed and corrupted by hell's forces (maybe he has failed on his mission, and was unable to stop the invasion in time). Then the Marine proceeds to the epicenter of the invasion, at the heart of the corrupted city to do the final showdown against the Gatekeeper. 0 Share this post Link to post
ASD Posted February 5, 2014 I thought the Plutonia maps were surreal realms. 0 Share this post Link to post
