Distributing a GZDoom wad

Recommended Posts

If I were to distribute my TC, is it OK to bundle it with a copy of GZDoom? To make it easier for people who don't/haven't played doom.

If so, is there a way to also change the default controls/settings? Can I just copy the config file over?

Heck, don't do it. Anyone who is even interested in Doom mods probably already has some knowledge about sourceports. Saying "you need GZDoom" is enough.

I'm just trying to streamline the experience for people who /don't/ know anything about doom/what a wad is etc. I'd have to have detailed instructions for people who've never done anything like that before, and I could avoid that if it's ok to just keep a copy of gzdoom in the download folder.

I'll check out any license stuff I can find, but if I can't do it I can't do it.

EDIT: checking all the licenses it looks like it's perfectly OK to distribute for free as long as all the files are there.

Standalone games such as Harmony and Urban Brawl usually include an engine.

I also know it's possible to change defaults and even menu layout through certain lumps, but I'm not sure to what extent.

It's probably ok to distribute GZDoom, I think the GZDoom website does that for example. Could be wrong.
