Eidolon's Gambit - Another 1-hour speedmap

"Good grief, he's still making them!" Yeah, I felt like making another 1-hour speedmap. :P This one's for Plutonia. Dig in!

I like the Plutonia-style ripoff of the revenant pillar in D2 Bloodfalls. :)

Seriously, nice speedmap, killed me a couple times. Definite Plutonia vibe, while enjoyable even for me.

I would join the yellow gate sectors so when you activate one they all open. Fun map, I would have loved to play a larger version of it, but for a 1-hour map it's fine. When I got into the first room I could imagine a spiraling mountainous map with similar rooms scattered in the walls of the mountain. Good atmosphere.

I had the same impression by the screenshot. Nice short map. I liked how it is a shotgun only map, I would like to see some rocket launcher only maps or plasma cannon maps. Good music and atmosphere.

Nice, fun little map. I enjoyed it. It works very well and seems nice and error free despite its short development time.

A lot of my speedmaps are mostly one-weapon ones, it's a bit of laziness on my part. The megawad I recently released has quite a few one-weapon maps.

Kind of reminds me of that evil people-eating mountain thing from Bionicle, only if it was full of ulcers. Pretty concise and clever for something made in only an hour.

For a 1-hour effort this is pretty impressive.
I'd have given the same tag to all the yellow bars at the end though, so that the Chaingunners could get out quickly and be more dangerous.

Someday I should take some time to properly try your megawad. :)

Well hey at least it's not disappointment in the thing that matters, the map! If the Heretic bundle was on sale on Steam, I'd just gift you a copy, everyone needs the IWADs!

Just so you know, Eidolon is the name of the third Serpent Rider, featured in Hexen 2, hence the confusion.

I did know that, but the name was just too cool to pass up. I'll probably make a Heretic map with that name one of these days as well.

There were actually a few Hexen wads that used ACS to make slot machine type maps. It's more impressive as a scripting demo than a gameplay feature though.

Played it through, nice little map for 1 hour, even died a few times. Ran out of damn ammo in the end so couldn't kill the arch-vile or the machine gun dudes, had to run through them. Died a few times there but 3'rd time luckily finished it.
