I created a Doom launcher called Byron's Doom Launcher (or BDL for short).

Recommended Posts

Recently, I've been having troubles keeping all my mods and WADs organised. To remedy this for myself, I created a Doom launcher. And I then decided to expand on my original idea and release it to the public. Currently, it is Windows-only and requires .NET (I *should* move it to Mono/C# at some point soon, however). It's called Byron's Doom Launcher (or BDL for short) currently.

The link is at http://almightybyron.co.uk/stuff/bdl

I've been working on it for about six days, but it is an ongoing task. Feedback and suggestions for future features would be nice.

Have fun playing,
Almighty Byron

I get some access error when I try to tell it where my wads are: http://pastebin.com/WX6euqUR
Also you probably don't understand the above posts, well the joke is that BDL are the initials of a very weird\peculiar person in this community.

What wizard are you using?
Edit: Worked that out from the error message, it's the Windows Explorer wizard.
Should release a patch later today.

The patch is out. Just exit the first time setup thing. It should then get you updated.

Unfortunately, I don't run Windows, so I can't judge, but:
- Don't forget to implement a good version checker to identify the
iwad-versions (and maybe an automated patching system to magically
apply necessary patches?)!
This is -at least for multiplayer- crucial!

Oh, I didn't think about that. At all. I'm adding that into the next update. For now I'll do it based on hashes, but later on I might try another way.
