My new wad: The Death base

So after not having made anything for a while I decided to make a map for Doom 2 in UDMF format. It takes about 10 min to complete and has a base theme. Its fairly tough but not too brutal.

Here is the first finished version of the map. I might make some minor changes depending on the feedback I get, but the map is pretty much finished. It has 2 difficulty settings, 1 for HMP and one for UV.

A shortish map that I enjoyed playing through on UV. I went up the stairs first and sort of charged ahead a little past the two Barons, but quickly had to backtrack when I ran into the Arch Viles! Luckily in the other direction at the start was a Plasma Gun, so I was just able to fend everything off. In the final room there did seem to be a lack of decent ammo considering there are 3 Cyberdemons in the room and no BFG to hit more than one of them at the same time.

Are you sure? There are a bunch of plasma cells in the final area. Though I guess it would not harm adding a few more just for the hell of it.

I also noticed while playing my map that 1 of the arch-viles is set to stealth mode for some reason. This will be fixed prior to this being uploaded to idgames.

EDIT: Actually, there are bits of the map that could use more ammo in general. I just made a few tweaks to the map. The original download link has been replaced with a new one with the updated map containing more ammo.

I thought that was intentional because it certainly sneaked up on me haha.

There are quite a few cells yes, but even with the infighting it still takes a vast amount of ammo to down 3 Cyberdemons. I still had some SSG left over at the end so it wasn't critical, but given that you trap the player in that room it does feel if you should accidentally wander in there before exploring elsewhere that you'd have real trouble.

Played up until the blue door where I ran out of ammo with an army of imps still alive. I found the monster placement too naive for the most part: it's just monsters coming at you from one direction, which isn't threatening or fun at all for a skilled player. I'd recommend putting more thought into creating interesting situations where the player would have to move a lot and not just strafe left\right while moving backwards slowly.

The reason you ran out of ammo is because I just discovered a linedef that was suppose to lower some walls containing lots of ammo was given the "actiave when monster crosses" instead of activate when player crosses. This has now been fixed and I have uploaded a new version of the level.
