Although islam is supposed to be a very loving religion, and Muhammed himself chose a very fiesty wife into women's lib, women are treated incredibly poorly under islamic law. Women are often executed or beaten for minor infractures such as being unescorted or showing their face.

Let's not forget that a large percentage of women born there have their clitoris either burned with a poker or ripped right off so they can't feel sexual pleasure their entire lives, so they'll be more 'faithful'.

I've never known any Muslims here in the U.S. that thought everybody else is an infidel. No sir...yet I DO know that the recent Arafat situation has caused a lot of strife (umm, no pun intended, I guess) in the continent, I'll give you that much.

I've never been to Turkey, but I'm told that people who live in the cities there are more or less exactly like us in the western world - women are dressed as "lightly" as the women where we live, young people wear funky dresses when they like to and people can marry who they want to marry without having their parents "pick" a husband/wife.

I agree that there are certain moslems that would serve the world better dead than alive, but the same can probably be said about some Christians or Jews (no offense to any Jews here, but some fundamentalist Jews are a pain in the arse, just like typical fundamentalist Christians).

That's because Turkey isn't a Muslim country it's secular, and now part of NATO, very westernised, in fact The Republic of Turkey is a democratic, secular and social State governed by the rule of law; bearing in mind the concepts of public peace, national solidarity and justice; respecting human rights and loyal to the nationalism of Ataturk.
