Doomseeker <NO RESPONSE> Error

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I'm having a real problem with Doomseeker. When I try to join a certain server, I get <NO RESPONSE> for that server. I then clicked on the Get Servers button, and I got this.

I have this version of Doomseeker: 0.12.1 Beta-140622-0717

I also have Zandronum 1.2.2 as well. In addition to that, I use a Netgear A6200 WiFi USB Adapter (AC1200 Dual Band Gigabit) for my computer because my computer is in my room as I have to use the WiFi to get internet for the computer.

What's sad is that I connected to a server on Doomseeker without trouble and didn't get the <NO RESPONSE> error. So what's going on?

It could be as simple as a connection dropping out for a split second, the main thing is figured out what causes that.

I recently had to switch to SIM card based internet (expensive + unreliable) because I don't have a land line where I live.. Often, I'll connect to IDE/Doomseeker, and while I can chat in irc and everything, all the servers come up as 'no response'. Sometimes, opening firefox and letting it idle on a page for a minute or two makes IDE realize I actually do have an internet connection (No idea how or why this works) and then queries the servers like it's supposed to.

Very odd, but try and and let me know if it works. Sad to say its the only suggestion I have.

If anyone else out there can give some technical info, that would be great!

In the query options, decrease batch size and increase batch delay. Doing so will slow down the refresh operation, but it helps on exceptionally bad connections.

I'll keep this in mind, but this error happened when I was talking with friends on Skype. Could Skype be part of the problem? It doesn't make the error when I'm just on Skype's IM (Instant Messaging).

It could be the cause. I can't remember off hand if UDP drops packets if there's no bandwidth left or if it queues.

Yeah, Skype eats up the connection.
