Mentally handicapped teenager beaten up at house party

Recommended Posts

New articles are better when they're not mostly composed of tweets. CBC is often guilty of that now. It's sad.

I'm not going to watch a vid of some assholes beating a disabled kid.

When did the Everything Else board become the primary source of current news events for many of us?

Probably the moment we ceased to have a life outside these forums.

Well, I don't normally read the news sites because most stuff there is at least somewhat depressing, and because it doesn't seem to affect my life in any noticeable way anyway. All these Ukraine wars and stuff could as well be happening on another planet and they would have approximately the same impact on my life I think. I guess you could call me ignorant.

Since when is someone being beaten up really been considered news? Don't get me wrong, it's sad of course, but people are getting beaten up all the time. There's absolutely nothing news-worthy about this.

I wouldn't be surprised if Linkrulezall was being sarcastic and shares your cynical viewpoint, although newsworthiness is not dictated just by whether an event "happens every day" or not, but rather stems from whether it's considered a current issue that concerns society. Cases like this one are taken as examples of general problems like bullying and discrimination and are used to raise awareness or see how the issue is dealt with, aside from any possible morbid reasons behind somesuch articles or postings.

Honestly, I am not surprised. There were a few events similar to this in school, (not sure if they involved recording utensils). A particular event was that some guy stamped on another's jaw after he floored him, due to his "camp personality". What did he get? Not expelled, but excluded for just 6 weeks. This was just a pure hate crime like the one being shown in the topic title, which seems far too common in this world. To make matters worse; they posted the fucking video online. I just hope that justice is served and this vile piece of shit rots in a cell for most of his life. Not to mention that he is a fucking pussy for starting on a kid with a mental health issue.

Not me. I have news on for a few hours a day. The sad thing is fact checking Facebook for bullshit and click bait to get your password.

I remember having to fact check the first time Robin Williams died filming RV2 last year.

Last week I fact checked some bullshit rollercoaster crash that killed everyone on board and 18 people on the ground. Nope... just something to get your Facebook password. Even had real people commenting on it... because their accounts had already been taken over without anyone knowing.

I'd say that almost makes it an even bigger tragedy - that we're so jaded as a society that we don't even think twice about someone getting the crap beaten out of them. Shouldn't it be news? Yeah, people get beaten up all the time - but that's kinda the point, isn't it? For some reason, we don't give a damn, so in essence, we're more or less saying it's okay, it's acceptable behavior. I mean, the whole reason this kind of thing happens in the first place is these kids grow up not seeing any consequences for violent actions, so it never occurs to them that it might be wrong. Oh sure, they may know it's "wrong" in some distant, abstract sense, like yeah, you could get in trouble if you get caught, but certainly they don't see it as immoral, because society teaches them it's not immoral, that might makes right.

I'm not gonna lie, but this is one of the primary reasons I continue to visit EE. And Doomworld.

Anyways, on the topic of getting "Beat Up," it probably shouldn't be news, unless it is something like this. I don't know the true story, but going on one version of t: Luring some kid with autism out just to beat the crap out of him when he's drunk is pretty scummy, and probably warrants as an assault, a crime. Of course, I'd be okay if someone jumped in there, took the attacker, and beat the shit out of him. Same with defending yourself, and even just giving someone a good punch if it they deserve it (Like, years agao, and perhaps today, KOing someone who messes with yo woa-man. Or man. Or hemaphrodite. Or bisexual. Or that thing where the girl is choked with a balloon and the man pees on her).

Interestingly, my High School had some system where if some kid decided to be an ass and beat you, you were not allowed to punch back or protect yourself from injury. Who had to take or risk being expelled. It's weird, seeing kids generally had the tendency to root out assholes and cameras everywhere made it seemingly easy to see who was and who was not the first target, or fault, or whatever. Other schools seem to have this system too, though fuck knows why. I've actually socked a number of people, but never got expelled, generally because it was usually a friend and then we just laugh it off days later. After elbowing a kid in the nose the most guilt I felt was that his sweater was covered in blood and probably couldn't be saved, stain wise.

Clonehunter, I can only guess that perhaps the mentality behind such a system is the fear of the system being exploited. You know, you really wanna beat someone's ass, but you don't want to get in trouble, so you goad the other person into throwing the first punch, so you can turn around and claim self defense. Making a rule that you get in trouble if you fight back might be seen as a way of preventing that. Of course that still leads back to exploitation - now the assholes know they can throw the first punch, and the kid getting beaten up can't fight back or risk getting in trouble, too.

Hell I'm reminded of an incident when my sister got suspended in middle school for hitting back after another girl assaulted her. School's logic was pretty much the same - "There's no way a girl would assault you unprovoked, so you must have been the instigator, hoping to beat her up and get her in trouble at the same time." Problem is, apparently there's no room in schools for the notion that hormonal teenagers tend not to act rationally. I mean hell, the perception that you're looking at someone the wrong way is enough to justify a fight in middle and high school, and that's considered one of the more rational justifications. Kids beat the crap out of each other all the time for reasons less than that. To a lot of kids, "It just seemed like it'd be fun," is more than enough reason. Hell, half the fights I've seen didn't even directly involve either party - someone else thought it'd be funny to spread rumors about one or both of the people in the fight just to see what would happen.

(I've even had to deal with that last point directly - you know how hard it is to make it clear to a kid who won't even be involved in a fight why starting rumors like that is bad?)

Here we clearly notice the vastly superior human with more beuty and perfection attempting to ridicule and destroy an inferior human with defects or maybe even just lesser beuty.
those with lesser beuty need to fake beuty, those with lesser genes need to hide their 'defects' or both will be destroyed and discriminated !

The world war 2 nationalistic socialists political party would be so proud of this deed and reasoning.

at least this guy isn't defending his attackers and begging them to get out of jail.

Yes, we really need a separate forum for IRL shit. Maybe the IRL forum?

With this said, I think we should teach kids to stand up for themselves no matter what. I guarantee that it helps a lot.

And finally, and most importantly, would this have been news if he didn't have autism or had an extremely high functioning version? I don't know what level of autism he has but if I was in this situation I would not want to be in the news as that would be more traumatic than the beating itself. Imagine how it would feel for the ENTIRE FREAKING WORLD to see a video of you getting your ass beaten while you are crying.

Needless to say, it's pretty much a guarantee that the perp's life is ruined now. Don't think he stands a chance at getting a job since he's a violent felon whom everyone knows about.

Two cesspits in place of one! What exactly would constitute "IRL" shit and what would stay in regular EE? I actually know the answer: no.
