MeetyourUnmaker Posted August 16, 2014 I recently listened to "Kid A" by Radiohead and the song "Optimistic" after several listens reminded me of a video game track from Duke Nukem Zero Hour https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXDaOH0k_XI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zoAL018B75s Of course, Zero Hour had no influence from Kid A because it came out 2 years before Kid A came out. It's just a neat little thing I found. 0 Share this post Link to post
Blastfrog Posted August 16, 2014 Hm, those openings do sound similar. However, it's not surprising as many generic riffs have been used in rock music for decades. I'm fairly certain that "At Doom's Gate" was supposed to be an homage to metal music in general, as that same riff found in many, many metal songs in some form or another and not just the one that everyone likes to point to, Metallica's "No Remorse". 0 Share this post Link to post

That riff would sound so good in a prog song with a big drum solo. 0 Share this post Link to post
geo Posted August 16, 2014 Not just those songs, but when you listen to 'summer hit pop songs' they have similar beats. 0 Share this post Link to post
