Portable Vanilla Doom 3

Dunno if anyone knows this but you can make a portable DOOM 3 install.

copy these files from the base folder of your doom 3 install.

game00.pk4
gamex86.dll
pak000.pk4
pak001.pk4
pak002.pk4
pak003.pk4
pak004.pk4
doomconfig.cfg

then copy these files for the expansion from the doom d3xp folder

game00.pk4
gamex86.dll
pak000.pk4
doomconfig.cfg

then download the latest patch from any site you find. its usually called DOOM3-1.3.1.exe it installs even if you dont have doom 3 installed and has everything you need. just copy these files over to the right folders you install the patch to and it works. you still need the cdkeys though. i havent played through the whole game with this method but from what i played its perfect.

got all the doom games saved on a usb stick this way. just in case im somewhere without internet for a while and dont wanna carry my discs

You can use this method with pretty much any id Software game prior to RAGE.

doom.wad + any source port = portable Doom

pak0.pak + pak1.pak + any quake source port = portable Quake

etc. etc.
