Gray bar on top of the chaingun?

Sometimes when shooting with the chaingun I can see a little gray bar on top of the muzzle flash:

Then I stop firing for a second, press "fire" again and the mysterious bar is gone. What is going on?

It's a bug on prboom.

It seems so. It happens whenever you start firing a chaingun while standing still, when the chaingun is centered.

Actually, these artifacts can be seen with various weapons in various states.
