dreg_master Posted December 11, 2014 Hey Guys, Im trying to make stairs going down Via Switch. I managed to get Stairs going UP from tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMeOhhjdHZU However, how do i make them build downward? I tried inverting the facings of line defs I unable set a negative amount in "Step Amount" Is this actually achievable? The other Stair options i have are Build Stairs Down Build Stairs up Build Stairs Down (sync) Build Stairs up (sync) Build Stairs Generic Build Build Stairs Doom I've tired all of them, not having much luck, following tutorial to the T i get it working up using build stairs doom. Is this possible? when i search "doombuilder stairs down", i don't see much at all. 0 Share this post Link to post
Kappes Buur Posted December 11, 2014 Since you are mapping for Doom in Hexen format you could try http://zdoom.org/wiki/Generic_Stairs However, using a switch to activate this special will alternate between up and down. 0 Share this post Link to post

Normally a stair activation switch is a use-once, unless you particularly want generic stairs to reverse. A good test level for Boom is DAWNING.WAD - it has down/up stairs (plus conveyors etc). 0 Share this post Link to post
Kappes Buur Posted December 11, 2014 On second thought you could use the action special http://zdoom.org/wiki/Stairs_BuildDown and give alternating sectors the stairs specials 26 and 27. For example Hint: shoot the switches 0 Share this post Link to post
AD_79 Posted December 11, 2014 I remember Memento Mori MAP01 had a staircase that built down, but that used small sectors on the sides of the stairs for the stairs to lower down to. (Also that was in vanilla format, which you should really use when you're starting out :P) 0 Share this post Link to post

I am using Doom (UDMF) format. :) 0 Share this post Link to post
dreg_master Posted December 16, 2014 Ill try those things mentioned. Thanks guys Ill repost here if i find any other solutions. Maybe make all steps an independent tag number and set a script to fire off a string of commands to make each sector lower as per script :) 0 Share this post Link to post

Why use multiple tags if the specific stairs functions exist? Kappes Buur already suggested the options. 0 Share this post Link to post
