Proper hub decorate functions

Recommended Posts

So I know every time I have tried to make maps I usually get flamed by you guys, but I'm still trying and will eventually get this shit done. I'm not releasing anything this time though.

I'm asking about how I can make hub styled maps, I tried myself by going to the zdoom wiki and looking at the hexen iwad shit to try and figure it out by I just can't seem to get it done.

So how can you set one up?

Also i'm sure it will, but can hub maps work for doom?
better safe then sorry and ask.

Ey whatever man, you want HUBs? I'll give you HUBs come over here, son I've got HUBs coming out of my eyes.

Well what you want to do is make a ZMAPINFO file, yeah? And you gotta define both your levels and your cluster they go in. But you do that a certain way, have these things in them:

map MAP01 "HUB REALM"
{
...
Cluster = 11
}

map MAP02 "An actual map"
{
...
Cluster = 11
}

...

Cluster 11
{
HUB
pic = "INTERPIC"
}
There, now they will all live together in a happy little HUB, thanks to the cluster definitions. But in order to actually warp to different maps, you gotta put a "Teleport to Map" line somewhere in the HUB map to actually take you to the other ones.

Are you using UDMF/GZDoom Builder? That'll make the entire thing miles easier.
