Multi-user map editor

Recommended Posts

I'm probably not the first to think of this, but wouldn't it be cool if multiple people could edit a map live in the same session? Users could have permissions and authorities set for each, as well as IRC and VOIP for coordination. Each change in the log would be tagged to the user that made that change.

I mean, construction crews do this in real life to speed up the work, why not the same for virtual buildings?

I had a similar idea...using Teamveiwer, but never tried it out. Teamviewer allows one person to look at someone else's' screen and control the mouse. Of course only one person can use the mouse at a time as if they both try to use it they'll get entangled...so it's not really simultaneous but rather turn based.

But yeah, having a way to build maps on two computers or more at the same time, seeing the changes made live and as they happen would be awesome. Voice chat is easy enough, there's a million programs for it.

Sounds like a great idea, indeed!

Permission rights? Like, separate permission rights to:

And of course, there needs to be a main responsible mapper = root, who can change permission rights of other mappers and undo actions of other mappers.
