Blastfrog Posted January 24, 2015 I'm probably not the first to think of this, but wouldn't it be cool if multiple people could edit a map live in the same session? Users could have permissions and authorities set for each, as well as IRC and VOIP for coordination. Each change in the log would be tagged to the user that made that change. I mean, construction crews do this in real life to speed up the work, why not the same for virtual buildings? 0 Share this post Link to post
Xegethra Posted January 24, 2015 I had a similar idea...using Teamveiwer, but never tried it out. Teamviewer allows one person to look at someone else's' screen and control the mouse. Of course only one person can use the mouse at a time as if they both try to use it they'll get entangled...so it's not really simultaneous but rather turn based. But yeah, having a way to build maps on two computers or more at the same time, seeing the changes made live and as they happen would be awesome. Voice chat is easy enough, there's a million programs for it. 0 Share this post Link to post

scifista42 Posted January 24, 2015 Sounds like a great idea, indeed!Sodaholic said:Users could have permissions and authorities set for each,Permission rights? Like, separate permission rights to: Spoiler -view one's own vertices -view other collaborator's vertices -move one's own vertices -move other collaborator's vertices -add vertices to one's own structures or to make new ones -add vertices to other collaborator's structures -delete one's own vertices -delete other collaborator's vertices -view one's own linedefs -view other collaborator's linedefs -move one's own linedefs -move other collaborator's linedefs -add linedefs to one's own structures or to make new ones -add linedefs to other collaborator's structures -delete one's own linedefs -delete other collaborator's linedefs -alter texturing of one's own linedefs -alter texturing of other collaborator's linedefs -assign actions to one's own linedefs -assign actions to other collaborator's linedefs -change tags of one's own linedefs -change tags of other collaborator's linedefs -view one's own sectors -view other collaborator's sectors -move one's own sectors -move other collaborator's sectors -add sectors to one's own structures or to make new ones -add sectors to other collaborator's structures -delete one's own sectors -delete other collaborator's sectors -alter floor/ceiling texturing of one's own sectors -alter floor/ceiling texturing of other collaborator's sectors -alter floor/ceiling heights of one's own sectors -alter floor/ceiling heights of other collaborator's sectors -change light level of one's own sectors -change light level of other collaborator's sectors -assign sector effects to one's own sectors -assign sector effects to other collaborator's sectors -change tags of one's own sectors -change tags of other collaborator's sectors And of course, there needs to be a main responsible mapper = root, who can change permission rights of other mappers and undo actions of other mappers. 0 Share this post Link to post
