Ancient DOS Games - Overview of the Doom Engine

Kris "Gemini" Asick, of Ancient DOS Games fame, has done a video overview of the Doom Engine. Probably nothing new for source port developers and other hardcore developer fans, but still quite interesting for those who previously didn't know how it worked.

Oh excellent, I'm currently writing a raycaster for fun to understand some of the old-school techniques and I was curious on the details of how Doom works.

He claims that you can work around visplane issues by crunching disconnected sectors into a single sector reference, but that's wrong, isn't it?

Yeah, Visplanes are done by subsectors afaik. Doesn't have anything to do with sectors in themselves.
