Kontra Kommando Posted June 22, 2015 Here's a snapshot of the artificial dream. http://www.popsci.com/these-are-what-google-artificial-intelligences-dreams-look 0 Share this post Link to post
geo Posted June 22, 2015 So it thinks of a random photo, finds a similar photo if not takes snippets and then puts a filter over them? Artificial intelligence indeed. No one programmed it to do that or anything. First AI that plays video games now AI that dreams. Google is building some lazy fucking intelligence. Soon it will be able to buy Steam games or shit off QVC. No need to worry about machines killing all humans, they'll be too lazy. 0 Share this post Link to post
Clonehunter Posted June 22, 2015 They're pretty cool images, though, imo 0 Share this post Link to post
Stygian Posted June 22, 2015 Pretty cool. From what I gather, the artificial neural net is shown pure noise which it attempts to interpret as an image. This process is then repeated using the image that resulted from the previous interpretation iteratively until a groovy abstract art piece is formed. 0 Share this post Link to post
Maes Posted June 22, 2015 The question is why it would result in something that humans can interpret? 0 Share this post Link to post
Memfis Posted June 22, 2015 This has nothing to do with dreams, boo shitty title. 0 Share this post Link to post

Maes Posted June 22, 2015 Well, I read the article, the input to the system are actual images, so of course it will end up looking like things that make sense to us, though I admit that this "Dali" surreal look is interesting. An animation of how the image takes form, and what patterns develop, would be far more interesting. 0 Share this post Link to post
FireFish Posted June 22, 2015 Current day Human intelligence ; It learns what to know, then it decides on its own what to do and when to do anything while making use of that which is known. Current day Artificial intelligence ; It might store data... which could be called learning, then it just does what it was programmed to do. 0 Share this post Link to post

FireFish Posted June 22, 2015 Da Werecat said:Don't we all? You could look at it that way, but one would have to have a serious, near malfunctioning lack of individuality as a human to truly fit into that description. Maybe even insect like. Must be a cool job though... running a neural network on a cluster computing based server system for a few years (cloud or whatever)... Reading about google makes me feel as if they just make the computers run while doing nothing until they break. lol. 0 Share this post Link to post

No videos, no proof, no wow factor, just images that are less impressive and quite honestly doesn't prove its doing what its doing. Plus.... why the fuck would it need to dream? If its dreaming, its still active, so is it like a screensaver? 0 Share this post Link to post
Jaxxoon R Posted June 23, 2015 Even if this wasn't created by a machine accidentally, it's not a total loss. If this was indeed crafted by a human being, it is apparent they are very competent artists. 0 Share this post Link to post
Kontra Kommando Posted July 8, 2015 http://artofericwayne.com/2015/07/08/google-deep-dream-getting-too-good/ These new images are even more bizarre! One of them looks like a colorful Giger painting. 0 Share this post Link to post
Maes Posted July 8, 2015 If the system's actual output is really that refined, that's really admirable. It would far surpass any other procedural image generation method I'm aware of. But then, even images of fractals are often retouched and "enhanced" by hand, so you can never be too sure. 0 Share this post Link to post
Marnetmar Posted July 8, 2015 It's a lot more impressive if you have a look at the original image. This: Came from this: 0 Share this post Link to post
FireFish Posted July 8, 2015 NSFW - 'No images that you would not want your grandmother to see. This includes pornography, "tasteful nudity,"' So did they feed the machine some porn, because that's a woman spreading her ass in all possible detail... including the arms, hands, a-hole, and twat. A really creepy mixture of dogs, ass, female anatomy, eyeballs, and porn. 0 Share this post Link to post

So NOW your custom title finally makes sense! Psychedelic eyeball woman dog porn. That's one dirty minded Android. 0 Share this post Link to post

It was enlightening. 0 Share this post Link to post

Koko Ricky Posted July 14, 2015 It's going to be very interesting as the algorithms get better and the kind of images that pop up change. We're going to see lots of dogs for the short term. 0 Share this post Link to post
Cupboard Posted July 14, 2015 I confirm this looks a lot like vaporizing DMT. Even other psychedelics produce similar results when you start combining other classes of drugs (for example, LSD and a strong amphetamine like meth). Not to mention when you add sleep deprivation sprinkled on top. 0 Share this post Link to post
