Pretty cool. From what I gather, the artificial neural net is shown pure noise which it attempts to interpret as an image. This process is then repeated using the image that resulted from the previous interpretation iteratively until a groovy abstract art piece is formed.

Well, I read the article, the input to the system are actual images, so of course it will end up looking like things that make sense to us, though I admit that this "Dali" surreal look is interesting.

An animation of how the image takes form, and what patterns develop, would be far more interesting.

You could look at it that way, but one would have to have a serious, near malfunctioning lack of individuality as a human to truly fit into that description. Maybe even insect like.

Yeah I read articles about Google's AI and I see images, but none of it happening. No videos, no proof, no wow factor, just images that are less impressive and quite honestly doesn't prove its doing what its doing.

Plus.... why the fuck would it need to dream? If its dreaming, its still active, so is it like a screensaver?

Even if this wasn't created by a machine accidentally, it's not a total loss. If this was indeed crafted by a human being, it is apparent they are very competent artists.

If the system's actual output is really that refined, that's really admirable. It would far surpass any other procedural image generation method I'm aware of.

But then, even images of fractals are often retouched and "enhanced" by hand, so you can never be too sure.

It's going to be very interesting as the algorithms get better and the kind of images that pop up change. We're going to see lots of dogs for the short term.

I confirm this looks a lot like vaporizing DMT. Even other psychedelics produce similar results when you start combining other classes of drugs (for example, LSD and a strong amphetamine like meth). Not to mention when you add sleep deprivation sprinkled on top.
