How come people aren't still working on Skulltag?

I know that that the production has stopped on it, but why can't someone ask permission to continue on it? I am completely new to the Doom community, and using both GZDoom and Skulltag (for multiplayer), I find Skulltag has a lot more potential. Anyone agree?

Skulltag continues under name Zandronum. The latest version supports a lot more ZDoom features than Skulltag ever did. Skulltag-specific monsters / weapons / textures / props are no longer internal, but they can be loaded as a PWAD (skulltag_actors.pk3).
