Share Your Sprites!

I'll go get the sprites I drew for a long abandoned MBF WAD I was originally making a long time ago:

I drew all this way back in 2016 when my art was somehow even worse than it is now.

 

The WAD was planned to avert Doom's philosophy of killing everything that moves. It never progressed from a small incomplete map and a few mobs (yeah they're not necessarily enemies in this WAD) made in DeHackEd.

 

There was also originally going to be Heretic-style gibbing where each piece of the body would be its own separate sprite, but I never had it integrated into the WAD's DeHackEd file.

 

It was a pain compiling a spreadsheet from completely separate images made in MS Paint.

STFST3* was an absolute bitch to work with. In fact, I had to update some of the other STF's because I wasn't quite happy with how they turned out.

Thanks. I had actually been planning on doing them long ago, but was putting them off mostly due to laziness and lack of experience at the time.

Now that I have GIMP reinstalled, it gave me the motivation to sprite again. (GIMP may be a bit overkill for the majority of you that want to sprite; I'd recommend Pixia or GraphicsGale)

ALL HAIL VARIABILITY!

Now Smooth Doom have a bit more variability. Again. Monsters and decorations weren't enough.

The thing is, Doom is a fast-paced game and your eyes look for recognizable shapes while playing... It's almost muscle memory at this point. The rocket box and ammo crate are similar so your brain tells you "rockets" or "ammo" however that magazine looks entirely different from the original pickup and will cause confusion. Granted, it won't take players more than a couple minutes to figure out out, but like I said, it's just so aesthetically different it doesn't quite fit.

Variability is good - but only when it has some logic behind it. Having differently looking ammo for the same weapon is illogical. Besides, it's military stuff, as we know, and they love their standards.
