Truly faithful recreation and a real treat to see some new hands too! Although I'm not sure I can 100% fathom it's "proper" or intended use. Are they four different individual attacks or is it intended as some sort of animation? I can't quite see it... What exactly had you in mind? I mean, I suppose the horizontal ones could swish left/right but the vertical/diagonals don't have enough arms drawn on the bottom side to swing down from on high... Just confused... Anyone got examples of this in use yet? 0 Share this post Link to post

For that one mod where ya play as a Hell Baron. There's something provoking to me about having a mod with Hell Barons armed with chainsaws. This would look awesome in deathmatch! Hell Baron Chainsaw Deathmatch!! Maybe we put a hockey mask on him too because... well, he ugly, he's his Daddy's child. 0 Share this post Link to post

I don't know if this is the intended use, but I just put together a quick alternate berserk attack for the chainsaw where Doomguy swings it back and forth You could probably get a much better result offsetting the sprites in DECORATE or ZSCRIPT. This is just four frames. 7 Share this post Link to post

The chainsaw swinging should be much wider, as in it should go across the screen instead of it flopping about real close as it is right now. It looks like the player is tickling the zombies and imps with a plush chainsaw doll. 2 Share this post Link to post

I actually already had this functional, I was previously using some blurry sprites I borrowed from Brutal Doom and another from a source can't quite recall. I just dropped the new sprites in and hit record. It does look better swinging in a wider arc, but I like that these new sprites are more accurate to the original saw, and I actually know who to credit if I ever get this wad out! I think I can probably tinker with the offsets and timings of the frames a bit to get them looking a bit nicer too. 5 Share this post Link to post
Cardboard Marty Posted August 25 THE BARON LORD! I tried something like this a couple of years ago but wasn't super happy with the result. I used Amuscaria's Hierophant monster as a base for the torso but did a ton of paint overs to fill in gaps and create new parts. This took way too much work for one frame, so I can't imagine doing a whole set, but maybe someday I'll approach this guy for a third time with new skills and tools...also, bonus Bruiser bro recolor! 24 Share this post Link to post
terminator80091 Posted August 25 (edited) Some random Doom stuff I've made a few hours ago... I was planning to use them in my Fundamental Paper Education-themed level... Sprites:bad Impression of a whiteboard marker Claire (Fundamental Paper Education) (shitty)Textures: board writing scratches on a wall I'm gonna say this again, they're all inspired/based on a web cartoon called "Basics in Behavior (aka Fundamental Paper Education)" 0 Share this post Link to post

Super cool! Real nice rework. Hate to be the pedantic guy, but baron and lord are both noble titles, so Baron Lord is sort of like calling someone Colonel Captain. Might I suggest Duke of Hell? Hell Prince? Minister of Hellish Finance? 2 Share this post Link to post

I think the small head looks good because a lot of larger creatures, or giant humanoids are usually depicted with a smaller head size and a larger body. Almost all Ogres or Trolls are depicted in such a manner, and Barons are usually larger if I recall correctly :) 1 Share this post Link to post

Xenaero Posted August 25 Some keys! I originally made these designs for my Twitch channel years ago, but last night I was wondering how well they'd look in game, so I paletted the graphics and cleaned em up, and this was the result! Originally used the deep dark Doom blues for the blue keycard but it was pretty hard to see against the dark background, definitely would look better with a royal blue PLAYPAL range. 21 Share this post Link to post

Personally, I think the skulls resembles skull in menu options more. The keycard is more like some blob colors moving around and flickers. I think the blob colors in keycard can be smoothed out with more frames, and remove the flicker. Just some random opinion since I haven't touched Doom for months, so don't take it too seriously. I have no idea how well the graphics presented themselves to player when someone actually used them. I liked the golden skull keycard though, it's more eye-catchy than the rest for me. 2 Share this post Link to post
