Hoodie Posted June 30, 2015 So a month ago I had inspiration to make maps, and so I started working on some ideas I had, and uh, I have mapper's block. I still have ideas for maps, it's just these are all mars base themed and all my ideas as of right now are earth base. When I got inspiration I wrote a little story to go with it cause I was gonna make a megawad, but whatever, I showed these maps to someone else and he didn't like them so I was just gonna release this so I can get criticism so I can get better. http://www.mediafire.com/download/2gm291t3crvk44m/Episode1.wad - The maps are 01-05, and Map08. - The wad is for Doom 2. - I play with GZDoom - There is no difficulty level. - Map06 isn't finished, sorry if that disgusts you. If you play them, please tell me what to improve on, I think they're good though. 0 Share this post Link to post

I couldn't seem to find it even on the site. I wanna make vanilla maps and Boom would be great to test stuff. 0 Share this post Link to post
Ribbiks Posted June 30, 2015 I think the original boom.exe is for dos and can be acquired here: http://www.teamtnt.com/boompubl/getit.htm The most commonly used port people use for testing "boom-compatibility" nowadays is pr-boom+, the latest version of which can be found here: http://prboom-plus.sourceforge.net/history.html Most boomy maps are played in -complevel 9, which you can set via command line, in the config file (under "default_compatibility_level", iirc), or via the preferences pane (set it to "boom", no numbers or anything). On a completely unrelated side-note, it's kind of weird how the prb+ source lists the complevels as follows: 7: Boom's compatibility mode 8: Emulates Boom v2.01 9: Emulates Boom v2.02 but in the preferences pane they're listed as: 7: Boom's Vanilla 8: Boom v2.01 9: Boom Kind of confusing, but ohwell. 0 Share this post Link to post

Even better would be Chocolate Doom (modern port that faithfully emulates vanilla, including its bugs and limits), Chocorenderlimits (fork of Chocolate Doom which displays stats and limits on screen while you play the game), or PrBoom-plus launched with -complevel 2 (modern port that faithfully emulates vanilla, but without limits like VISPLANES etc). 0 Share this post Link to post

Ribbiks Posted June 30, 2015 That one is old. 2.5.1.4 is much better. Breezeep said:What about PRBoom +?
