About freedooms zandronum edited sprites

Been awhile since I did sprite editing.
So I thought it could add this is a concept.

The point is, we should do something about the other impaling marine frames.

JIC, those are Maz Hades's recolours from here. I just re-posted the images here to show them, because they seem really nice to me.

I guess that being edited Freedoom assets, they are "automatically" GPL so anyone can further expand upon them, but personally I don't have the time (and probably skill) for that ATM.

As for the missing attack frames, I suppose that the regular standing/walking frames could do at least as temporary substitution.

Freedom is not GPL. In particular there's no "Share-Alike" clause, so without a clear statement, there's no indication that these derived resources are similarly licensed.

Here's a recolor of the freedoom imp, which is its zandronum clone (shadow serpent)



Been awhile since I uploaded a zandro freedoom monster sprite sheet so I though I added some animations as well.

don't know how I made the blood blue since I recolored the frames. and I think raymoohawk is making progress on the new serpent sprites

How about making the serpent generally darker? I've thought before that reducing the contrast could help conceal or reduce the clunkyness of the sprites, and indeed it does seem to work with your recolour. Perhaps giving it a shade similar to the Revenant replacement would improve it even more?

There are also certain frames which have "stray" single pixels that stick out of the shape quite noticeably.

you know dark sprites work really badly on doom because they become really had to see on anything other than full brightness

Indeed this makes them less visible but the dark serpent is a libre equivalent to a Zandronum monster which uses a simalar coulour scheme.

first of all the concept you want to do is very amazing considering that even chex quest has it's own skulltag weapons

 

second of all you can use these names as replacements for the original names:

 Minigun = MG-40

Grenade Launcher = Explosive Launcher

Railgun = Laser Spittle / Laser Canon / Laser Rail

BFG10K = SKAG10696 /SKAG13370

the sprites i download are small, so i resize them...

you could help me by giving me a bigger size sprites
