Enderkevin13 Posted August 8, 2015 I was playing some E1M1 for old times sake, and I noticed this texture alignment glitch. Was it intended, or by accident? 0 Share this post Link to post
Koko Ricky Posted August 8, 2015 Think about it. The platform is at a different height, so its textures are as well. This is normally solved by pegging or unpegging textures, depending on the nature of the layout. Remember that in 1993, there was no equivalent of DoomBuilder that could just let you go in and adjust the texture's height in real-time. 0 Share this post Link to post
scifista42 Posted August 8, 2015 IWADs are full of imperfect alignment, pretty much every D1 and D2 map has lesser or bigger issues with it. Apparently idSoftware wasn't as strict about finding and fixing them as Doomers are nowadays. Also, Doom's original resolution was 320x200 pixels, which made the game look grainy enough that average-obvious texture misalignments didn't seem particularly jarring. 0 Share this post Link to post
Six Posted August 8, 2015 It's not really a glitch. It was perhaps misaligned purposely to hint at the player that the platform could move. As already stated though, there's plenty of misaligned textures throughout the IWADS. 0 Share this post Link to post
Enderkevin13 Posted August 8, 2015 Thanks for the replies. I was always curious about that texture. 0 Share this post Link to post
