Possible archive maintainer abuse?

One of my friends on steam recently directed my attention to a couple of recent entries to REJECTS.txt that have showed up since Bloodshedder was nominated archive maintainer:

He never states why these aren't allowed. If we allow this to keep happening, who's to say that he can't just sweep any wad under the rug? Doesn't this open up the possibility for all kinds of abuse if nobody else is looking at the incoming wads besides Bloodshedder? I also heard from the creator of RunawayD that he never received responses to 2 emails he sent asking why said wad wasn't allowed.

I'm guessing OBLIGE, snuff, or malicious terrywad. Stupid fucking move not specifying though, that's just asking for problems. But if we're all gonna be picking on Bloodshedder:

Bloodshedder has stated there is a long-standing policy against jokewads in /newstuff.

Obambirthday and WOOO 2 were both featured.

I think the difference though is that things like WOOO2 are not really .."shit" in the same way a Terry wad is.

I looked at both WADs before Bloodshedder rejected them, so I can explain the reasons for them both.

• runawayd was a WAD made for the sole purpose of trolling another user. There wasn't much to the WAD other than painting the user as a lonely nerd who considers little girls his wives, and is destined to die alone. It was just needless ugliness, and even if it weren't, it had little to no gameplay value.
• BvH was called "Black People vs. Humans", and was exactly the kind of WAD you would expect with that title. The text file alone would have been grounds for rejection if the WAD itself weren't the same:

  Description             : After the defeat of the Icon of Sin, peace has
                            finally returned to Earth and humanity is, once
                            again, thriving. However crime has been growing
                            exponentially and it's once again time for our hero
                            to kill the ultimate threat: Black People. But this
                            time he'll need help...

In the future, though, yes, less ambiguous reject messages would be wiser.

Looks like Linkrulezall has shitty friends and the creator of RunawayD is an asshole. Looks like the maintainers are doing exactly what they should be doing. Looks like terryfriends failed to stir shit yet again.

I don't know, it's sort of double edged sword. I can see 'racism' as a point for not accepting a wad, but cherrypicking wads is a terrible approach. Renaming /terrywads to /trollwads and lumping all useless stuff seems like a better long-term solution.

Building on from my previous post, one-line summaries of the reasons I explained in it have been added to the REJECTS log as well. In the future, such messages will be used when a WAD is rejected for those reasons or similar.

Nah, I get why these were rejected - Personal attacks are a blatant no-no and such ridiculous levels of racism... While unfortunately common on the internet, probably don't belong as a point in Doom's history. It makes sense enough to me.

I could go along with renaming the directory but not with using it as a pseudo-dumpster for stuff that belongs in Write-Only memory.

Then a proper rejection reason is needed. The two one's mentioned here did not contain sufficient reason for rejection. Reading The Green Herring's post suffiently explains it but something meaningful should have gone into the REJECTS file right away, now we have the mess and some of the shit content is out in the open here in this thread.

I had nothing to do with whoever made BvH, I didn't know anything about it other than the vague reason for its deletion.

Also, I like how RunawayD was apparently bad enough to remove but nobody's brought up Gamarra's Soul Story (probably because everyone's still trying to forget that that ever happened). Either way, the problem that I originally presented with this thread has been solved. Thanks, Herring.

Yeah, a pseudo-dumpster was precisely what I envisioned, because I believe the archive needs one. Misleading txtfiles, purposely unbeatable maps, etc... you name it. All the wads in it would still be accessible, just properly sorted, so I don't see what's wrong about the idea.

Yes it is, I'm not denying that and I certainly wouldn't mind if useless stuff got deleted outright, but there's no backwards compatibility in archive and quality of wads was never a criterion for acceptance, so there's already a ton of useless stuff uploaded that would require cherrypicking to purge. The special privilege of the pseudo-dumpster could come with additional features, like impossibility to rate/comment/review on idgames, exclusion from appearing on main site and exclusion from appearing when pressing "random file" on idgames. It's better long-term solution imo.
