glenzinho Posted September 30, 2015 I've been looking at both images and failing to see exact matches in the clouds, but looking at the pic gives me an eerily familiar feeling. Is it probable that RSKY1 was derived from this image? 0 Share this post Link to post
Linguica Posted September 30, 2015 Pictures of clouds are hardly rare. 0 Share this post Link to post
Buckshot Posted September 30, 2015 I want to beleive that the sky texture from Episode 3 (Inferno) as well as Episode 2 (Shores of Hell) are legit places/mountains. Episode 2 I'm certain of (albeit some minor editing) Episode 3... not as certain. Could have been digitally created. Either way... where ever those bluffs/rocky towers & cliffs may be, I want to build my home sy the base of them and live there. In fact I'd probably build a building identical to the hellbase and it's satellite buildings in e3m6 and surround it with lava and some 10ft high walls. Dream home. 0 Share this post Link to post
neubejiita Posted October 1, 2015 Here is a post by Romero, this is an unused sky made for Doom. https://twitter.com/romero/status/542947670914912256 Someone could use this. 0 Share this post Link to post

The mountains remind me of the Shores of Hell sky, with clouds reminiscent of the the Doom II starport sky. 0 Share this post Link to post
Da Werecat Posted October 1, 2015 Funny. I immediately thought "it's gonna be that sky with yellow mountains". 0 Share this post Link to post

Stealth Frag Posted October 2, 2015 Linguica said:Pictures of clouds are hardly rare. Yeah, they probably googled it in 1993/1994 ;) Anyway, I'm pretty sure that even if this isn't that sky, they use some photo from other album. Of course id artist must strongly modified source picture so it be tileable e.g. 0 Share this post Link to post
CacoCaddy Posted October 3, 2015 Kevin cloud could have taken a picture right out his window and then digitized it for the doom 2 sky. 0 Share this post Link to post
Clonehunter Posted October 4, 2015 So they do exist! Very cool finds, and the textures look great! 0 Share this post Link to post
Soundblock Posted October 5, 2015 Woah, hold your horses Indy! On the upside of the artistic originality aspect, at least they didn't use this one. 0 Share this post Link to post

There's another alien gargoyle in Nantes. http://io9.com/a-menagerie-of-church-gargoyles-including-aliens-and-a-1540265105 My fav, however, is the demon eating an ice cream cone. 0 Share this post Link to post

Reisal Posted October 9, 2015 I saw that texture was used in Quake, now that you mention it.. Edit: Oh, I didn't think that was the same face on STONGARG and some others.. 0 Share this post Link to post
Protester Posted October 10, 2015 Really cool find. I'd rather like more textures like this, minor medieval wall details and such. 0 Share this post Link to post
HunoR Posted December 2, 2017 Love it. The one I really want to find is the original picture of the frame around the skull button. I think it's based on a photograph because it definitely has small details, but they're hardly recognisable. It has to be an antique arch top mirror frame, picture frame or a window frame. Anyway.. I really like what you've find. Gonna cast them in bronze in the summer. 0 Share this post Link to post
