Ashstrodamus Posted October 9, 2015 I never got too far into it, but I'm actually impressed by my original two wads. Never even got keys working in them, but the learning curve is back. I've forgot everything. Just making a line is a chore. Looks like I have to cut the line short for say a tripwire and then vertices mode to extend it across. I'm gonna do an Alien Vendetta/Scythe 2 tribute with crazy textures. Probably will start with a single map and hopefully turn it into a megawad. I'm a Doom enthusiast and a UV-Max runner. I want these levels to be brutal. Where is the best place to submit my questions? I'm gonna need help and this is probably like a 1 year project, but I'll need help to get it working properly. Any tips on adding midis? I've got some of the best ever heard on a wad. Edit: I know it sounds crazy, but I'm committed and I want to make this work and be something special. My 40 year old ass wants to make this something to be remembered by. I'm pretty green on making wads but last year's attempts lets me know that it is possible. 0 Share this post Link to post
scifista42 Posted October 9, 2015 Look out for mapping and wad-editing tutorials, study info on doomwiki.org and in existing threads in "Doom Editing" about good mapping tips and technical feats, spend time semi-randomly toying with the editor just to get familiar with its interface and possibilities, study well-regarded custom wads and take note of what makes them good, and ask on a forum if your own research didn't sufficiently help you with a technical issue or with gaining information/opinions. 0 Share this post Link to post

I actually have watched like a zillion yt vids. Chubzdoomer is the most helpful tutorial. His country-ass gives the most basic advice and makes it easier to build. Thanks again sci. I have noticed you're one of the most helpful guys around and I hope I make a wad you dig!!!!! I need things spelled out for me. It seems the younger generation rushes things. Tell me in detail how it works and I've got it, but most young guys spit a bunch of yap that's hard to understand. 0 Share this post Link to post
