My younger bro absolutely had to update my sound drivers - result: Now I can't get the music to work in Doom, the sound is gone in any dos-based game I have (the Hexen demo), and in some of my 'newer' games an awful flickering noise begins less than one minute into the game, ruining cool atmospheres in some of them (playing through RtCW's crypt levels is not exciting anymore because of this gawdawful noise!).
I guess I need to stick a huge label onto my comp saying:
"DON'T FIDDLE WITH MY SOUND DRIVERS!!!!!!"

Oh well, I'll get this problem fixed one way or another.
