ZDoom Site Update

Randy Heit has updated the ZDoom pages with some information on the video playback support that will make its appearance in the next ZDoom 1.23 beta. Specifically, it is using DirectShow, so according to the site:

• If you can play it with Windows Media Player, you will be able to play it with ZDoom.
  
• Only the Windows version of ZDoom will be able to play videos.

Unfortunately, Randy's monitor is now suffering problems, and so his work on ZDoom is seriously hampered until either the issue resolves itself or he gets a new monitor.

I guess not. The WADs will surely contain pointers to the resources that they are supposed to playback.

But you know what?

I bet nobody except for very very extremely few people cares about video playback. "It's in the game".
Gameplay counts, we all know DOOM for it's gameplay.

I'll probably watch a cutscene once or twice until I get bored with it. And I'm very sure that 90% of the other people won't download a WAD file if they know that 99% of it's content is just a movie file.

I'm sure I'm not missing anything much using Linux Zdoom. I just wish that the beta's would come to a halt and there'd be a final release.
