Windows vs. DOS Editors

Hello. Is it true that you can't create big maps with DOS level editors? Does Windows editors have any limits? How large can I construct a map using DOS editors?

It really depends on the editor in question and wether or not it has a DOS extender...

I made a level with 30,000 sidedefs in deth which is dos-based.

In the majority of DOS editors, this is true. They used conventional memory to run and load maps - conventional memory is limited to 640k, most of which is used by drivers and other loaded programs. Windows editors don't have this memory limit to work with, hence they can make maps as big as the game can handle.
