Arioch Posted October 19, 2001 Csabo has released version 1.07 of his eXtendable Wad Editor to the masses. This new version has the following new features.Added support for Eye of Beholder 1 and 2. [Requested by Enjay]. Added support for Lands of Lore (TLK Files). [Requested by Nick Baker]. Added support for Adrenix, NecroDome, Witchaven, Dark Forces, Descent 1. Encrypted Blood files are now also supported. Much better VOC and WAV support: segmented and 16bit VOC files are working. XWE now automatically recognises most sound files by the header, regardless of entry name. New Feature: For EOB3, Duke3D, Blood, PowerSlave, Witchaven, Dark Forces (any game with multiple sub-images): Image|Save All will automatically save all sub images. Map Editor: Flip LineDef feature, LineDef textures can now be edited. XWE warns users to save changed entries, finally [Thanks to ReX for the suggestion]. Lots of improvements and fixes. XWE is available in both "full" and "lite" versions for download. 0 Share this post Link to post
kristus Posted October 19, 2001 Is this editor actually built to edit maps or is it just for Wad file building? 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Pab Posted October 20, 2001 Whoopie! Ebola: It's made for Wad file building. 0 Share this post Link to post
kristus Posted October 20, 2001 Cool.. hmm then I gotta try it again.. 0 Share this post Link to post
kristus Posted October 20, 2001 Is this commands on the sprites.. (test for compression) really a "crop" er.. command thingie? If not.. then I would love to see one in XWE.. I hate to crop the files before adding them to the wad.. it's such a assload of work.. if I could just add it to the wad and then just hit crop image.. and it would be perfectly cropped.. it would be great.. 0 Share this post Link to post

Katarhyne Posted October 20, 2001 Eye of the Beholder. Old semi-3D DOS RPG. Great fun. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest (Unknown) Posted October 20, 2001 Speaking of PowerSlave; anyone know where I can get it? Like an online store or otherwise ::cough:: 0 Share this post Link to post
Csabo Posted October 20, 2001 Ebola: Crop will be done, thanks for the suggestion. The "Test for compression" is something that I want to do, but it doesn't do anything meaningful yet (I should hide it). EOB1,2,3 is the Eye of the Beholder series as Katarhyne pointed it out. You probably didn't notice that on my page under Games Supported these games now actually have a link, there isn't much there yet though. This editor is built to (1) edit maps, (2) do/edit everything imaginable with Doom WADs, and (3) to browse other game files. 1) Since there are lots of good map editors out there, I'm not really pushing myself on that end yet. Altough I would expected a different reaction when people find out that someone is actually coding a new map editor. Still, you can already build some simple things with it: There is Add new rectangular and polygonal sectors, Split Flip and Join linedefs. But it is definitely far, far from finished. 2) For Doom editing XWE has it's own TextScreen (ENDOOM), Palette and ColorMap editors, PatchNames and Texture editors, Wave and MUS viewers. Some of these can be done with other smaller utilities, but with XWE it's all in one. You can import multiple files (anything) to you WADs, rename / delete / move around lumps, merge WADs, copy multiple entries between WADs, etc. To me this part was important because I could not find any program out there that would do these things the way I wanted it to be done. 3) I have a great deal of fun adding graphics and sound support for more games, and I got a lot of requests too. The todo list on this one is: Lands of Lore (graphic support), System Shock and Realms of the Haunted. They are all pretty though, but I'll try. I'd like to thank everyone who has sent me feedback. I appreciate it, and more comments or requests for new features are always welcome. 0 Share this post Link to post

mystic Posted October 21, 2001 This thing seems too good to be true but ReX and Doom Dude both swear by it so I suppose I will have to try it and see for myself what all the fuss is about. I have been wanting to rip Blood graphics for ages. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest NunoC Posted October 21, 2001 Or any TED5 game, for that matter. 0 Share this post Link to post
YicklePigeon Posted October 21, 2001 double posted........the shame <:| But anyway, I'm even happier now, now that I know I can use XWE to make custom wads with just graphics in it (I hate WinTex, utter s**t, NWT is on par with WinTex). I've still got to download the new version and see if I can rip Blake Stone graphics in the correct colours....I'll be talkin :) now excuse me wont you? *starts playing Apogfanf.imf* 0 Share this post Link to post
NiGHTMARE Posted October 24, 2001 You can grab all three EOB games, along with Lands of Lore (which made by the same company as the first two EOB's, Westwood of Command and Conquer fame) off of the Underdogs. 0 Share this post Link to post
