We received word from anticonscience of a new Doom site, entitled The Phobos Lab, opening, right on GameSpy's 3DActionPlanet.com site. The Phobos Lab will become PlanetDoom.com eventually, so head on over and check it out.

There is really nothing special there but at least it seems to work, unlike another well known Doom site I wont mention because I like going there sometimes (when its up). Well, Im off back to NewDoom.

Did anyone check out the "doom1 characters" section? THEY TOOK SCREENSHOTS OF MD2 MODELS? God damnit, that's NOT doom... not official anyway. When they talk about the original doom, at least they could use original screenshots :8

yeah, they look blocky. i use the original sprites when playing. ok, i'd like to see those 20.000 poly imps in doom3 :)

Sacrilege!Yeah that's definitely NOT Doom,whilst some of the MD2 models are very good, some of them are laughable,also I think that this strikes at the heart of one of the reasons of Doom's success:The resolution that the pixels/sprites provide is not great and therefore it takes more of our imagination to really 'know' what a given monster looks like.It's like watching a good horror movie in which you never quite get to see the monster full-on until the end,you just get fleeting glimpses and the tension is built!For me also this is one of the reasons why Quake,so far,lacks the atmosphere of Doom,those limited polygons are all too revealing and unrealistic,we're having to wait a decade before polygons catch up(100,000 do it?),but when they do?!! Doom3, I keep my fingers crossed...

Another Doom news site. Ho hum. It won't be able to contribute much seeing as how Doomworld, Newdoom, and Doom Center have everything effectively covered. All the decent sites have been gobbled up for hosting. They launched too soon imo(unless the new Doom game is closer to completion than is thought). Until id starts releasing lots of new info and or tests/demos of Doom3, they are pretty much going to just sit there looking dumb.

Even BluesNews has become a bloated piece of crap. Is it just my familiarity with a particular site that causes me to prefer it? Or is there something more, something I lack the wit to spell out in clear terms? Instinct tells me that it's the former, but I tend to steer clear of any excess personality or cheerfulness. It seems that everyone, especially newscasters, think that being a source of information entitles them to add their own spin to the facts. It does, but a true journalist, a true leader, a true LIBRA, knows that their greatest responsibility is to the people. The truth is in fact secondary, but it is only by the complete and unmodified truth that you can help others people.

Besides, who really needs another f-ing doom site. The ones that were here before Doom3 was announced have far more credibility.

My brain plugs must be switched. When DC went up I thought, "Bandwagonners" (not anymore - sorry bigd) and the like, and now that this new site started I'm all friendly with it.
