Julian Posted December 7, 2001 Part 3 of Tomorrow's Yesterday, a fan fiction written by Rick Clark, has been posted at Doom Center. If you haven't read the first two parts, links await you on the feature page. Time to thank Bigdog once again. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Johnny Magnum Posted December 7, 2001 Some One should make a doom wad where all the weapons are swords, spears, axes, war-hammers, and crossbows, etc. Really, someone should. I'm getting kind of sick of guns and blasters, someone has to change this somehow. Will someone come forward and breplyb to this message 0 Share this post Link to post
magikal Posted December 7, 2001 Do it and we won't play it because we like guns and 'blasters'(?) here at DW... An' change ya name to Johnny Sword, doesn't have quite the same ring does it? 0 Share this post Link to post

Guest Johnny Magnum Posted December 7, 2001 All of you are quite right. Hey how can you get doom porn wads? Gimme an address if you know of one. 0 Share this post Link to post
Hyena Posted December 7, 2001 It's a nice story, but one thing that bothers me is how he had a small camera that could take pictures without a flash that would attract the guards' attention. In WWII did such a thing exist? 0 Share this post Link to post
Hyena Posted December 7, 2001 Unfortunately, the problem with swords spears axes and the like is that doom only has two melee attacks which are basically the same. You couldn't really make a spear have a farther attack range than a fist. And the only way to make an axe more powerful than a dagger is to double or triple the attack so that it counts as three punches instead of one. Crossbows have been done many times, though. It's a fun weapon that nobody seems to get tired of. 0 Share this post Link to post
bigd Posted December 7, 2001 Rick said in the Doom Center forums: BTW, I didn't make up the little gadets B.J. is carrying. They are all stuff that OSS/SOE agents used during WWII. Even the powder, believe it or not. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Rick Clark Posted December 7, 2001 It's a nice story, but one thing that bothers me is how he had a small camera that could take pictures without a flash that would attract the guards' attention. As a matter of fact, yes. The British were quite good and creating little gadgets. Remember they were fighting the war a long time before the U.S. became involved and they had an extensive intelligence structure. They had a whole line of cameras, including some small enough to fit inside a cigarette pack. The one B.J. is carrying is an actual model from the time period and developed by the British. The book Clandestine Warefare has several sections on gagdets like these. Interesting stuff. 0 Share this post Link to post

ReX Posted December 7, 2001 .... how did this become a discussion on porn wads? (Hopefully Johnny Magnum is completely preoccupied by now -- snicker, snicker -- and will not create irrelevant posts. Heh.) And staying on topic, Rick's third installment is a great read. 0 Share this post Link to post
kristus Posted December 7, 2001 Nice story Rick.. I'm still waiting with high anticipation for the continuance of the Doom Bible inspired story your writing though.. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Rick Clark Posted December 7, 2001 I'm still waiting with high anticipation for the continuance of the Doom Bible inspired story your writing though.. Hehe. I promise that I will return to it after I finish with TY and have it out shortly thereafter. I'm going to release it as a complete story so you'll be able to read it all at once (I'm estimating it'll be about 120 pages or so, short novel length.) 0 Share this post Link to post
Law Posted December 8, 2001 You could do the technical side of that wad in Edge (the ultimate TC platform). It would require somone rip a load of animation frames though for the graphics. 0 Share this post Link to post
