some thoughts

Some things I think would make Doom more interesting are:

-if you could play as one of the monsters.
-if monsters could use powerups and weapons.
-if you had the option of only using part of a medikit or stimpack at a time.
-if the Doomguy had some climbing claws that allowed him to climb up cliffs.
-if you could play mp3 music or CD music with the game.
-if monsters wouldn't wake up if you used your fist behind their back
-if soul spheres ran away
-if some medikits were already partly used up when you found them
-if you could stop on a dime
-if every time some idiot jumped, he would lose 10 health points
-if you could reload
-if monsters could walk on walls
-if gravitational polarity was changeable
-if monsters sometimes got suicidal and jumped off cliffs
-if monsters revolted
-if John Travolta was in it
-if you could have foggy skies and clear skies in the same .wad file
-if you could make an infinitely large sector
-if monsters got lost
-if all those other games hadn't been made

Spicedoom+csdoom = The best MOD for DOOM...

go for zdoom (and all other ports based upon it), edge, dosdoom and others

-if monsters wouldn't wake up if you used your fist behind their back

would be doable with edge

guess what... edge

-if you could reload
go for nightmaresquad

-if gravitational polarity was changeable
go for skulltag

-if John Travolta was in it
possible in any doom version with some decent dehacked

-if you could have foggy skies and clear skies in the same .wad file
don't really know what you'r meaning, but zdoom has fog as a sector effect
