IWAD file for Linux Doom?

Recommended Posts

Guest chrisr

I downloaded and installed Linux Doom using
lxdoom-1_4_4-0_i386.rpm

Question:
Does this come with an IWAD file? If so, how do I invoke the
program to use it? If not, where can I get an IWAD file that
is compatible with this version of Doom?
Thanks!
Chris

Each iwad of MacDoom, Doom for Dos or Doom for Windoze should work. Your Linux-port should accept each of this iwad-versions. Personally I use MacDoom iwads for running various dos-based source-ports under a PC-emulation with PC-Dos 7.0 on my Mac. Since iwads are commercially, you have to support id and buy a copy of Doom.

As Heinemann already explained, you can use the IWAD from any DOS version of Ultimate Doom, Doom2 or Final Doom. You can also download the shareware Doom IWAD seperately from Doomworld's 'shareware' section.
