I can't search !

When i click "search forums" i'm told i don't have permission to do so. What's up with that ?

in their infinite wisdom the admins of this forum decided to only allow moderators and admins to search.

Yep, oblivion got it right. Only Moderators, Super Moderators and Administrators can search, regular users (at the moment, I dunno about the future) cannot search.
