Zdoom Music

Recommended Posts

Guest Erick20

up until now, I had been satisfied playing doom without music. But now I want it back! It appears that whenever I launch Doom 1 or 2 with Zdoom the music doesn't work, and the SFX does. Then, when I try the games w/o Zdoom, the music works, and the FX don't!

Please let me know if you've encountered this problem before and how to solve it. Thank you!

the 1.23 betas uses the exactly same drivers for midi playback the driver change only affect digital sfx and module music.

however, today i just answered a guy (WZ something) which had a very similar problem, head on over to the zdoom forums and hopefully that'll solve the problem :)

hey bit,

I went to the Zdoom forum and tried exacting what you suggested, but it was still no good. I'm using a SB512 3d card, if it helps any. Any more suggestions?

thanks!

i have no idea what a "SB512 3d card" is, however any card able to play a .mid file and a .wav file at the same time should be able to work fine in zdoom.

the original doom1 and 2 (doom.exe) doesn't use the windows settings at all (can't use the windows drivers), most soundcards however are "soundblaster" or "soundblaster pro" compatible so if you run setup.exe (now this is original doom only, not any sourceport) and choose soundblaster for music and sfx hopefully it will be able to autodetect them.

if you could post the list of drivers zdoom reports as midi drivers i might be able to figure something out :)
