Malice Rancor Posted December 9, 2000 Ok I have a map that is 1.23 meg. I have had to rebuild parts of it over again because for some reason after a nodes build, it will crash with Legacy. So I start over again from the last backup. But now for some reason I have had to build my most recent area 4 or 5 times and it still always crashes with Legacy. I even just added one more sector to it the last time and that alone made the map not work with Legacy. So does Legacy actually have a limit to the size of maps that it can run? Or is it something else. I use Windeu32 Version 2.24 0 Share this post Link to post
Wildman Posted December 9, 2000 Yes, I believe there is a physical limit to the size a map can be. If I remember right when boom came out Jim mentioned this and said it was something internal to the Doom structure and couldn't be changed. Sorry for being vague but I don't remember the details. You'll probably just have to break up the map. 0 Share this post Link to post
Lüt Posted December 9, 2000 I had a similar problem: the thing I always come across is roughly 30,000 sidedefs in a map, that usually always causes the freeze. It's very frustrating. But my map got to be around 4 MB before it started crashing like that. Damn frustrating. 0 Share this post Link to post
Malice Rancor Posted December 9, 2000 This map still runs with the other ports, such as Zdoom, and even will run with JDoom. I can't run the wad that adds graphics to use it with JDoom though, never could actually. I only seem to have problems with Legacy. I forget the error that I get, I think it is something to do with "segment violation". 0 Share this post Link to post
