New CTF WAD: 2fortsD - Check it out!

Recommended Posts

Guest Kilokahn

If you've ever played Team Fortress on Quake, in GameSpy or any variant, you have heard of 2fort5. It is THE most successful CTF level for Quake 1. I am going to try to make that success for Doom client/server programs!

Take a look at http://www.nexmix.com/~kkwow/2fortsd/ and see what is done right now.

I need your help though... I am stuck between making my level look and sound like John Cook's 2fort5 or make it totally original. I would love to make it look like 2fort5 but I am not sure if it will be welcomed.

Take a look at http://www.nexmix.com/~kkwow/2fortsd/, download the beta version and post or e-mail your comments to me!

(Note: The Beta version is not set up for CTF play on SkullTag, but it is ready for DeathMatch play.)

I hope everyone enjoys the work so far and I will be updating the site with new developments.

Thanks for all your help!

Chris

No, you misunderstood. Two Forts is a series. I have 1 level right now but there will be many levels in the WAD when done.

Those particular Quake textures are ..umm.. not pretty.

Look at the levels at http://www.btinternet.com/~Enjay001/

The 2001 map01 has "nice" quake textures. His other levels also have a wide variety of "easy on the eyes" graphics (Train and Thiefy). Look at Heretic or Hexen for some of those graphics.

There is also a wide variety of interesting scripting (with source).

Good luck on your conversion.

Jack,

Thanks for the note. I will glance at that. My idea right now is to finish my original level for 2fortsD then after start converting it and shaping it to have the dimensions of the 2fort5 level. I am not sure how I want to make the multi-story giant just yet.

Also, I am thinking of making a few variations of it with 1 that looks exact to the button, one that is using the Doom graphics and maybe a breed of my own.

Time will tell...

Chris
