which port is the best?

Hi everyone,

I am sure this question has been brought up several times, but now it comes again.
Please help a Doom port newbee to choose the best port out there, i know there is ZDOOM jDOOM and others so it is not that easy.

Depends on what you like.

If you want to make your own mod for doom Edge (http://edge.sourceforge.net) is the best port.

If you just want gameplay, Zdoom is the best

If you want incredible gameplay (a la Quake 3) get skull tag (http://www.doomworld.com/skulltag)

If you want very cool effects (glare 'n' stuff) Jdoom is the best

There is no "best source port" out there.
Download both and use them. I have at least 6 or seven source ports on my computer just for the hell of it.
