Problem with Final Doom and ZdoomGL

For some weird reason I can't get Final Doom to work properly with ZdoomGL...even though I had no trouble with it functioning with Ultimate Doom and Doom2. It either crashes at startup where it gets to "Init Status Bar" or else it works fine but after I pass the first level, it crashes at the status screen when it's going to the level 2. Anyone by chance run into this problem or have any ideas? thanks

it may have to do with either the mipmapping, the lighting, or the fact that the level has a fake deep water effect(most likely this is the reason)
