Dima Posted December 7, 2000 A little something to make u HAPPY!!! DWBS - Linguica - Wednesday Dec 06 23:47:42 2000 After all the hubbub surrounding the 10 Sectors contest, it's nice to enjoy some peace and quiet, although it has been getting a little boring without the hundreds of levels flying around every which way. I thought I would share a little quote from a buddy of mine Sverre Kvernmo, who worked on the Master Levels and Eternal Doom before graduating to Daikatana and KISS Psycho Circus: I saw Doom running today. My jawbone is still on id's floor and I truly think we're in for another level of fear. Carmack is still a few T_Rex-skulls ahead of anything and anyone (I very recently checked out Monolith and Epic's latest engine efforts too)... Oh now if only I could see it. Ehem. 0 Share this post Link to post
Zaldron Posted December 7, 2000 Dima! Quick! grab the shotguns! We´re taking hostages until they show us the stuff! 0 Share this post Link to post
Dima Posted December 7, 2000 And the engine is still at it's MOST EARLIEST STAGE!!!!!!!!! And even one level is not complete yet!!!! That means that even on this early stage it is SO INCREDUBLE!!! NOW I truly believe it will cause a REVOLUTION!! 0 Share this post Link to post
Zaldron Posted December 7, 2000 God! And the dev team hasn´t made any official art for DooM yet (they´re all working on TA). This guy was amazed looking at reused Quake 3 stuff and/or crappy programmer´s art!! 0 Share this post Link to post

Dima Posted December 7, 2000 I posted what I posted here in Quake3World forums and Paul Jaquays answered: That somebody saw stuff up on a screen at id? Of course, now we have to send the men in black out ... ------------------ Paul Jaquays id Software Designer Moderator: Level Design, Bot, Models & Skinning Forum email: paulj@idsoftware.com 0 Share this post Link to post
Dima Posted December 7, 2000 A new reply I got: What he saw is the current status of engine development. Carmack has been working on it for a while now. 0 Share this post Link to post
Disorder Posted December 7, 2000 I can't wait... Wow.. If the engine is still unfinished and it's already f**king unbelievable than I really can't wait any longer.... dammit... just hang on for a couple of years more.. :( 0 Share this post Link to post
Dima Posted December 7, 2000 In the recent interview with American McGee he said: McGee, who's close friends with John Carmack, has seen the engine at work and calls it a "quantum leap" in gaming engines. "What blows me away is the lighting architecture," he says. "The light is real. It's like watching a movie with the sound off, then - whoa! - turning on Dolby 5-channel." 0 Share this post Link to post
Lord FlatHead Posted December 7, 2000 Dima said:John Carmack is the KING!! I can't wait!! I can't wait until id release the first version of Doom3Test (or a preview movie - hey, even screenshots would be great). Things are pointing more and more towards the Doom3 engine being a great step forward in technology. It is a good time to be alive. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest JudgeDooM Posted December 7, 2000 Me 2, if the engine is as great as American says, I can't wait. BTW, Lord, if your Doom site is still up, could u give me the link? 0 Share this post Link to post
Lord FlatHead Posted December 7, 2000 My homepage has been offline ever since my old PC broke down. Now that I've recently bought a new Tower of Power (900 Mhz with GeForce 2) I'm working on a new homepage. It will not be strictly about Doom3 any more (though I will be devoting attention to it as more info becomes available). Expect it to turn up at www.geocities.com/lordflathead before the end of this year, maybe sooner. I'll post a message here once it's up. 0 Share this post Link to post
