Lord FlatHead Posted April 3, 2001 http://www.geocities.com/insane_marines/id_adrian.jpg OK, I think I've finally figured out what it takes to be an id guy. You need : 1. A totally stupid hairdo / facial hair combination 2. A PC screen the size of the final boss from Serious Sam 3. Amazingly cool stuff hanging from the walls 4. Amazingly uncool stuff hanging from your face (see (1)) 5. A collection of Linux figurines, plastic ducks and otherwise stupid gimmicks to put on your monitor 6. And, unfortunately, tons of talent. Tough luck. And today's question you can win a Ferrari with is : from which game do you remember the yellow plastic ducky on Adrian Carmack's monitor ? 0 Share this post Link to post
Zaldron Posted April 3, 2001 Dark Fox, I think I know where you duck escaped some days ago... Anyway, that desk looks like mine, perhaps I should clean it one of these days. Damn, he has like 30 images loaded there. Can´t imagine why, so he´s probably bluffing us. 0 Share this post Link to post

I would much rather prefer a picture of one of id guys making a level for Doom 3 :) BTW Zaldron, the stuff in macworld doom tech demo (fans, corridors, flickering lights, bridge, etc...) must have been made somewhere right? I mean the objects could be made in Maya and 3dstudiomax but the entire presentation had to be made in a editor... So my conclusion is that I think that the level editor already exists (even if it's in a very early form). 0 Share this post Link to post
Zaldron Posted April 3, 2001 The brushes could have been imported from 3DSMAX/MAYA, and the camera scripting too (according to Nilsson). BUT, there are entities working already, so I guess you´re right. After all, Duffy doesn´t need the engine to make the editor, and I don´t think he had a lot of things to do for TA. Yeah, the editor exists right now, in fact, remember Jaquays saying that he was learning some new tools? 0 Share this post Link to post
