I enjoy Errant signal, Satchbag and Gaming Historian, for the mere fact that they make serious attempts at providing interesting information about gaming that you aren't likely to find elsewhere. These guys are also pretty articulate and have nice production value.

Lazy Game Reviews is very endearing, as its humor is quiet and host Clint Basinger is just a delightful, friendly presence. He's reviewed quite few DOS titles I cherished as a kid and I like that he covers odd stuff like completely ridiculous 90s hardware that has been long forgotten.

JonTron was sort of the cream of the crop for awhile, but since he got a budget, his humor has gone downhill. He regularly misses opportunities for laughs, as he seems to have a poor grip on timing, execution, direction, writing, etc. Very sad because he was a lot more intense and engaging just a year or two ago. His Starcade mini-series was very hit-or-miss.

Sometimes I check out Classic Gaming Room, because they are likely review something odd that I played growing up, although their show is pretty straightforward, a bit like LGR, but not quite as charming.

Some of my favorite gaming videos(let's play, review, walkthrough, etc.) on Youtube:

- "Ross's Game Dungeon" by Accursed Farms
- Full walkthrough of original Rise of the Triad by Psychedelic Eyeball
- "Zero Punctuation" by Yahtzee Croshaw from The Escapist
- "Angry Video Game Nerd" by James Rolfe from Cinemassacre
- Early videos done by Markiplier, such as Cry of Fear and Afraid of Monsters walkthrough
- Videos done by Scykoh + ScykohPlays, especially Glitchquest series.

While Ross Scott did a fabulous job in "Freeman's Mind" series, his Game Dungeon reviews are also enjoyable to watch. It's like that cynical Gordon Freeman himself is doing a review. The only one complaint about that series is the fact that Ross mentioned "I think Doom is overrated."(not the upcoming one, but the Classic Doom). Psychedelic Eyeball's complete RoTT walkthrough series was really faithful to that classic first person shooter and I do liked it. But too bad that his other playlists didn't catch my attention. Zero Punctuation introduced the fantastic term 'Spunkgargleweewee' to criticize QTE based modern military shooters, and it got an insta-subscription from me because of that. The other game reviews are also enjoyable to me.

AVGN has uploaded his video game reviews for nearly nine years. Some people may don't like his harsh, ridiculous videos. But I started to watch his videos when I was in high school, and his hilarious videos has settled in my memory. About Markiplier, I was looking for a video walkthrough of those horror first person shooters, and somehow his videos caught my attention. I don't know why, but maybe it's because of his voice or his willing to beat the horror game, but I'm not sure. It is interesting that now he has more than 10M subscribers, although his recent videos are not for my taste. Scykoh's Pokemon Generation 1 Glitchquest was just funny and awesome, recalling my memories about that game from my childhood.

I dunno, AVGN still hasn't learned to write, act, direct, shoot, edit beyond the amateur level.

You've said this exact thing in at least two threads now.
Do you have some sort of grudge against the guy? He's just making videos for fun.
And who care's if it's amateur? At least he manages to get genuine laughs, instead of screaming into a microphone while playing the 27th Slender game in hopes that he can rake in enough views to pay off his electric bill.

I wouldn't call it a grudge. It's more like, I'm the weird grandpa who "doesn't get these damn kids." When I watch stuff like that, I just stare in silence, trying to understand how humor has evidently changed in the last few decades. I just honestly don't get it, I don't know why what he does is considered entertainment, because it contradicts what I have grown to learn and accept as entertainment. That said, I'm sure he's a swell guy. Got nothing against him personally. He's obviously doing something right if he's got such a huge following, but I'm clearly in the dark here.

The more Ghetto the production, the better imo.

I also like Markiplier's voice. A lot.

GalleyUK: Did longplays of 90s FPS games. He added annotations in lieu of voice commentary because he didn't like speaking over the game audio. I do wish he had done Heretic and Hexen before stopping.
Ahoy: It's as if National Geographic did CoD weapon analysis. Smooth, even tones that lull me to sleep in spite of the subject matter and the cheesy puns he puts in at the end. I should watch his videos on older games and firearms.
World of Longplays: Playthroughs of many games across many systems, no voice commentary.
CornShaq: His playthroughs are more instructional in nature and tend to be no-frills. I don't mind his voice too much, though it is rather stilted and matter-of-fact. I do wish he would keep the aspect ratio for 4:3 games instead of stretching them out.

I quite like General Lotz's stuff, Classic Game Room (the Lord Karnage stuff at least) is always good fun too. I also enjoy AVGN. Another guy who doesn't really do any gaming stuff on his own channel is Michael from Achievement Hunter. I used to enjoy their content but I feel their humour sort of deteriorated once they got partnered with FullScreen. Michael's own channel (ltmkilla) however is pure gold. Not sure if you guys would like it but it's 100% my type of humour. His Banjo Kazooie playthrough is the greatest thing since internet porn.

Edit: And for fans of Mortal Kombat check out TotalMK. Awesome guy, very passionate about MK and is hilarious. His Special Forces review is amazing, he gets absolutely pissed beforehand he hates that game so much, what a guy. Just discovered another guy who does cool fighting game videos too, his name is MrGStar321 and does just about any popular fighting game you can think of.

I enjoy AVGN's actual AVGN episodes, and Zero Punctuation, but that's about it. I've never seen the point to Let's Play videos, and generally find everything else pretty boring. I'd rather be playing the games myself.

Usually I like to watch LP's of games which I have already played to death because I like to hear others commentary and thoughts on it, also I put on LP's for background noise when I'm doing something else since I don't have any company for the majority of the time.

He did a full length feature film. What have you done with your super awesome comedy youtube channel?

It's weird to hear you playing the part of "I don't get modern comedy" grandpa, since your own comedy channel is clearly well outside the bounds of traditional humour. I would have expected you to be a bit more open-minded.

Yeah, whatever your taste in comedy it's demonstrably the case that AVGN has written, acted, directed and shot at a professional level just by virtue of the fact that he produced his own movie. In fact, if you just read the Wikipedia article for it he's listed for all those roles.

I mean if it's not your style of humour that's fine, but I don't get the desire to talk shit about him just because his work doesn't appeal to you.

MrBtongue Is a charming mother fucker who makes a series called 'Tasteful, Understated Nerdrage' (and the odd 'Creepy Obsessive Nerdlove') which, while not exclusively about video games, is some of the best in dept analysis on my favorite dorky as hell hobby.

Super Bunny Hop Game Reviews, news and current affairs is what this guy does I guess? I Don't know, but he's good at it whatever it is exactly.

Spoiler Warning is an analytical Group Let's Play Chennel made up of people like Campster and Shamus along with other game learned types.
